Rumors show that nintendo want to change the name of the nintendo wii, since negative user feedback and jokes, lowering their reputation:
Another name change for the Wii?!
Although it was not too long since codename Revolution was renamed to Wii, there are some rumors that if might undergo another name change in the following months. According to a source inside Nintendo, the negative reaction of the community and marketing strategies are the causes of that possible name change.
We have received over 200,000 e-mails with complaints about the Wii, and the console name has been commonly associated with urine. We have been the target of many jokes, and we strongly believe that it's a bad thing for the company's reputation", says Mike, who works at the marketing department of Nintendo.
Mike also adds that people are not taking this new console very seriously. In a recent poll, they found that 62% of gamers think "Wii" sounds childish, and 49% said they wouldn't buy the console judging only by its name. The upcoming Nintendo console features an innovative controller, excellent graphic systems and internet connectivity.

A source? What source? Why would this source give information to you? Nintendo is not changing the name again. That would only confuse people.

As much as I prefer Revolution over Wii. I frankly don't care if they keep the name, as long as the name somehow reduces the technical quality of the console.

Calm down now, we don't want a flame war over the name, I just found it on a Wii fansite, meaning it probally isen't official, but I just wanted to see what you thought, and let you know about it.

In all seriousness, Wii's name is staying. They are getting tons of press from it, and hey, Ninty is doing great. People care about the Gameplay and the Games over the Name. Read about it in my article Wii Are Ready. randomnintendo.com/?rid=1189&c=articles

I'm under the impression the name change was nothing more than a publicity stunt. They got nothing but negative press for weeks, then things settled down once people saw the Wii in action at E3. They monopolized the headlines going into E3 and rode the Wii's coattails out of E3. It's still making a big splash. I've never seen so many untraditional games in the mainstream press - that's a good thing.

I mean, to be honest... PlayStation surely wasn't the best name Sony could come up with for a gaming console... but we don't hear anyone whinging about that.

Better than Sega Saturn. When did game consoles ever become planets? Um...seriously though, PlayStation wasn't replacing something that everyone loved. It's as if we all got teased with Revolution and then it gets pulled out from under us. I don't care anymore, but it hurt at the time.

I really dont care anymore either, cause the name doesnt affect me. I just thought at the time that they were changing the name that nintendo was going for a little insult fishing with calling it the Wii, thus killing their reputation.
