Yeah, you can buy one for like $60 (US) refurbished. which is why they give you less then they sell it for, one, because they sell to make money (duh), and two, they reduce the amount you get because they have to ship the system to a refurbishing center. (which is like $15 off the system, not much)

Hmm. I'll look into it. I might ask for a small TV for my room for Christmas, or I guess I could find one cheap somewhere. Because with a NES, N64, and PS2 in one room (not all hooked up though ><) and the widescreen in the other room, along with cable, so we can't hook stuff up in there during the day, the only other TV's are in my parents and sister's room. :[ I don't have one. -Is really off topic-
To be honest, I think I might see if I can find a new one. Shouldn't be too expensive, should it? The only games I'm really interested in are Animal Crossing and Paper Mario: TYD.

Other GCN games worth picking up include Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Sonic Heroes, and F-Zero GX, just to name a few.

Wait, wait, whaaaaat? You've never heard of the sheer raw awesomeness that is Resident Evil 4? It's my fifth favorite game OF ALL TIME.

Eheh, sorry. Turns out I'm not getting a Gamecube anytime soon anyway. -sigh- :[ What happened? Well, if you have a PS2, you can probably just play the inferior PS2 version of RE4. Trust me, though: the Gamecube edition looks better and plays better, no matter HOW much exclusive content Capcom shoved the PS2 version's behind.

I cannot believe that she doesnt have a GC yet, they are the most affordable consoles out there!
Dont get a GC now, its too late, just save up for a Wii, cause you can also play GC games on the wii too, and use the same controllers and memory card(s), along with the awesome wii games, like Far Cry Vengance, Project HAMMER, and much more!!!!!

I'm not getting a Wii (anytime soon, anyway) so I'm more interested in just buying a Gamcube. I saw one for $150 AUD in EB Games the other day (platinum, new, with a controller) - is that a good price? Just for a comparison, I believe the Wii is going for $399 AUD here.

A piece of advice: cut the chase. Get the Wii, forget about the Gamecube. Despite the Cube's great games and price, it's just worth it to get the Wii about six months after it's released. Backwards compatibility to every game made for NES, Super Nintendo, TurboGrafX-16, Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Gamecube doesn't just double its gaming value, it supersizes it beyond all imaginings. Throw in the awesome Wii lineup, and that machine will rightfully earn the title "Greatest Gaming Machine Ever Made." So, just wait till next year and get the Wii instead of jumping the gun to get the much-more-miniscule-in-comparison Gamecube.

Not to mention that it is backwards compatible with the Gamecube.

Tell you what, I'll invite you down to Australia to persuade my parents why we need a Wii.
The thing is, at the moment they're mostly using that we have too many consoles for an argument. We have a NES, N64, PS2, and a shitload of Gameboys. Then my Dad said we had an Atari somewhere, but it's buried upstairs and we never use it, so that's not an argument. -.-
