Would the imported games even work on an Aussie bought GBA/SP? Unless the handhelds are universal.. meaning they can play Jap, USA, and other versions... but I don't know.

Yup, I have my GBA from JPN, Japan and US games work fine. Believe it or not, some Japan games have a feature that you can choose the languages from Japanease and English!!

Nope... can't read Kanji (the weird Jap characters)... But I can read SOME Romanji (Japanese words.. like konnichiwa).
I'm still trying to learn.. so yeah.. I have to learn one way or another, if I ever wanna go to Japan one day...

I have to learn one way or another, if I ever wanna go to Japan one day... Well, if you can read Hiragana ad Katakana (The Japanese alphabets), you can play the Jap version of Pokemon. Because they don' use kanji n Pokemon, to make it readable for little kids.

yeah, but they both sound the same. Hiragana is the most basic one, and Katakana, we usually use it when we write english in japanese.
