I have the original. The graphics, sound and gameplay were all beautiful, but I didn't really like the story and the *shake head yes/no* thing quickly got VERY annoying. Overrated, but still a quality RPG methinks. IDK gray, Camelot has supposedly been developing an RPG for about every Nintendo system since the 64 and nothing has ever come of it

I have Golden Suns one and two. I've finished one, but two is pretty hard... and I haven't played it in a while, so I may have to start over. And why did the "Yes No" thing get annoying, Richard? It's the same thing in most other RPGs. It never bothered me. And the storyline to the first (And therefore the second) was pretty good. Overrated, my foot.

Most other RPGs? Not ones that I have played. In most GOOD RPGs, there are not *nod/shake head* options, there are actual dialogue trees, which actually affect the conversation. In Golden Sun it gave you the yes/no option but you could only choose one of them most of the time. If that is the case, they should just make it like Zelda where the game answers questions for you.

In the end, it's just "give a positive response/give a negative response", no matter what RPG we're talking about. You're fuming about nothing at all.

Hmmm well its obvious from your post that you haven't played a lot of RPGs. No matter what RPG we are talking about? Hmm...well I can think of some off of the top of my head...Final Fantasy VII (date sequence, getting Vincent and Yuffie), Baldurs Gate series, basically any RPG from Bioware, Fable, KOTOR, or Morrowind. You will no doubt counter with...none of those are traditional RPGs! (with the exception of VII) To that I say even traditional RPG games have dialogue trees that allow the player to retrieve additional information, quests, or items by following certain paths. A simple "yes/no" response system is just showing that Camelot didn't even try to make it interesting, which is what is upsetting. Though you say "they are all just positive/negative", that is entirely false. Dialogue trees allow your character to develop a persona that is otherwise absent (coughisaaccough). Character development and dialogue are two MAIN factors in RPGs, and in both areas the Golden Sun series is SEVERELY lacking.

Says you. My counter: All RPGs have that kind of thing. ALL RPGs. Doesn't matter if they're traditional or not. Don't even think for a second that I haven't played very many RPGs. I've been playing them since Dragon Quest on NES, remember? Did you forget THAT post? Sheesh. It isn't "entirely false." What is it with you and thinking that just because I contradict you that I'm always wrong? Is it some kind of unwritten rule here at RN? Golden Sun is an awesome RPG. Nothing you can say or do can EVER change that.

Well made it is. Awesome...perhaps. Pilgrim John...here is my point. I don't have a problem with your personally . I NEVER have a problem with you having an opinion. What is at stake here is not how good of a game Golden Sun is, because that an opinion. What is NOT an opinion is whether Golden Sun features a dialogue tree that branches out to a level on par with other current RPGs. You could pose the arguement that dialogue trees don't do anything for character development, but it would have very little evidence, and what evidence is present would be shaky at best. I am saying outright that Golden Sun's dialogue system is the most basic there is (I actually CHALLENGE you to find a more basic dialogue system). There is one common aspect of all RPGs: They end. What you are INCORRECT in asserting is that "all RPGs" have "that kind of thing" where it gives you a choice and then won't accept when you select one of them. Baldurs Gate, Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Shadow Hearts, KOTOR etc. all have different endings and different ways to achieve those endings depending on dialogue trees. Golden Sun does not. That is my arguement and as good a reason as any to mark it down in my book as less than an "awesome" rpg.
