It's a Perl/CGI message service that I can host off of Abyss. All I had to do was download Perl. But the e-mail part (for notifications and registering) requires me to run an SMTP server but I haven't been able to find one that runs on low resources like Abyss.
YaBB (Yet another Bulletin Board) looks a lot like this forum. I think Patrick saw YaBB and decided to make aa better one that could serve thousands of people. And he also added many features that made PB better than YaBB.

Uhh is that good or bad Well, it depends on your personal preferences: It's good if you want to know about recent threads you read. It's bad if you want all read threads to stay as read.

Well, it depends on your personal preferences: It's good if you want to know about recent threads you read. It's bad if you want all read threads to stay as read. That's why there is a Mark All As Read button on each board and at the bottom of the Forum Index.
