(Note: I do not care if this gets, locked, moved....since this is imporant, I believe this is safe on the General Board) Capcom has JUST announced that it will be brining Resident Evil 4 to the PS2 in Late 2005. More details will be reported as it rises. Sources: www.gamespot.comwww.ign.comwww.gcadvanced.comect.... My comments: This is a bunch of b**lcrap!

Since it's about a VIDEO GAME.... it would be more appropriately place in the GENERAL GAME DISCUSSION board.. or the PS2 board...
Think before you post...

It's not quite the end of the world... GameCube will still have it for up to an entire year before it's released on the PS2.

Well, it's probably the same case with Killer 7; Some Capcom official said they're releasing it on PS2 just in case it doesn't sell well on GameCube. He actually kind of expects it won't, but I hear it's fairly anticipated, you never know. But at least people like Capcom are trying to ware away this "kiddy" image. But I think it's just lame to say Nintendo's kiddy JUST because ONE little game of theirs is aimed at children. Ehh, it's their loss. Not mine

The official statement was put on Capcom Japan's website around 9:30 PM Central last night. I remember reading it shortly before I got off. Yeah, it sucks and all, but you can't blame Capcom. RE4 is going to sell through the roof, but it's not going to sell to its potential until it's on the PS2. I don't enjoy the thought, but the GCN will have it for a year before it hits the PS2, and the game will have to have a graphical downgrade or go multi-disc to exist on PS2. It just can't handle the awesomeness of RE4

But Capcom was dumb to do this, after allllll that ca$h spent to keep it exclusive, and at sooo so close to release, they had to announce it was multiplatform. Well, despite the awesomeness of VJ and MegaMan Anniversary, Capcom's games aren't usually overhyped thus meaning lackluster sales, so they could actually be desperate. But let's just be thankful that it's actually ON GCN.

Here's why anyone who is upset by this should go f**k themselves:
1. This isn't the first time a game went multi after its release. Anyone remember GTA 3/ VC? How about all tom clancy games?
2. A year...that's the time between the releases. In that time, the only people who will wait to get it on PS2 are people who don't have a gamecube.
3. You still get to play it, so why bitch and moan. The game will be downgraded on PS2 due to its lower processing power and crappier graphics (note that I have and love my PS2, Xbox, and GCN. I'm just not a blind moron).
In conclusion, this "big news" isn't that big at all

Plus, the reason it's going on PS2 as well, is because of RE's large fanbase on it. Afterall.. the first RE games was for a PS..
So yeah.. like C_E said.. why b*tch or moan.. you're still getting it on the GCN.. if they changed their minds, and put it to PS2 ONLY, THEN you can b*tch and moan...

Personally I do think this is a very good strategy for capcom, if RE4 is ported on the PS2 then more people will be able to buy it, people who owned PS2 and were previously discouraged by the $100 to buy a GC (not a huge price but a console ALWAYS seems to be more of a pain to buy than just a standalone game, with all the accessories, etc.) just so they could get RE4. Plus, with RE4 having the ability to sell more now, this makes an RE5 possible, considering, without money the gaming industry couldn't be fueled, and while it is good to have exclusives, sometimes you have to make sacrifices like this. Capcom realized that the Resident Evil fanbase on the GC, while being pretty big, just wasn't big enough to fully support the game, and they could make much more profit by putting it on another console as well. But really I don't see why it would bother anyone, since it was Capcom's descision and all, plus the game industry does require profit to run (making me wonder how sega stayed alive for all those years after they just reported their first profit since who knows when o.o) so yeah, I don't really mind it, and besides, PS2 isn't getting it until a year afterwards, I would be happy to know I was getting it a whole year before the people buying it on PS2. Then again...none of this really matters to me, because I don't care what games are on what systems consoles live and die by their games and not the companies who make the consoles and the first party games.

How's this a surprise? Viewtiful Joe was a hit on the GCN, despite its Japanese appeal (most Japanese games don't do well in America). Capcom's 'exclusive' Resident Evil series to the GCN has been flawed for a couple years now. They've released two games on the PS2 since that was announced.

I think it was a surprise because Capcom said numerous times that RE4 is a 'Cube exclusive. Also, Mr. Mikami once said that if RE4 isn't an exclusive, he'd cut his head off.

I think I can use this example over and over again, so I'll just use it here too. Nintendo denied the rumors about Rare being bought out. It ended up getting bought by Microsoft. This was probably the biggest news story this generational cycle for the GCN.

I can imagine whats next.
Mr Miyamoto: "I will chop my feet off if the Legend of Zelda goes multiplatform".
Of course, that cant happen
