Nintendo has been stating over the past few years that gaming is underleveled. Nintendo believes gaming needs something new. They recently released the Nintendo DS with the Revolution in development.
Answer the poll and answer: Why?

Definitely. If companies continue to pump out the same basic concepts with prettier graphics, the industry is going to slowly die... Innovation is the key to success, in my opinion.

MasTa, I agree, this industry needs to be something new every couple years when the next generation is unveiled. Very few companies tend to innovate, and when those way cool gems (Viewtiful Joe and Billy Hatcher are PERFECT examples) come up, the public is like, "How gay! I'd rather play this Metal Gear Solid, which is the only game I ever play! I can't even call myself a gamer since I say the game is kiddy but I wouldn't be caught dead playing Mario games! Which one are they on, like seven or something? IT'S MILKED! I'd rather Play Dynasty Warriors 4: There's some minor adjustment to this edition of Dynasty Warriors 4 that can barely even consider this game to be new but will still make you buy the game AGAIN and AGAIN! OMG I'm so cool!"
Unfortunately for such an idiot that would say this, I may have a few bubbles to burst: 1) I know you can't call yourself a gamer, you actually believe a review of a game that they say is so terrible about it. I mean, I obviously had much more fun with P.N. 03 (I gave the game a 7.4 out of 10 in my review, while IGN for example gave it a 5.3)then everyone else! You just can't be called a gamer if you say "I'm too old for Pokemon or Sonic", because you're never too old for anything in the world of video games. Time flies, one week you may prefer DS, the next you prefer playing your vintage GameGear that works perfectly, that's what the US Constitution is all about! The Freedom to do just about anything unrelated to sins. You're expressing your right as a gamer to go and play whatever game [system] you so choose. Heck, you're still expressing your right as a gamer to be devoted to Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, or before they went dead, Sega and Atari! Plus, Mario may be milked (excluding the Normal Mario Platformers and Mario Kart games), but so is Dynasty Warriors! They made, what, EIGHT editions of Dynasty Warriors? And all include some minor adjustment but still retail for 50 bucks, the EXACT same amount of money you spent on the DW4 prior to the next milked installment? And if you thought Koei was milk-tastic, wait till you read up on Capcom. I'm pretty sure VJ will get to 8 like MegaMan, but I'm going to stop buying the series at 3. I don't need a kajillion copies of VJ. And Billy Hatcher was freaking underrated. One of the best platformers ever made... yeah.
So anyway, the industry needs better GamePlay, and originality, not women so sexy and beautifully rendered that you need to make out with your TV! Thus ends my post. *wonders how many will read this post ecks dee (XD for those who can't really imagine while reading))

Gameplay all the way! People are really sad now. They go all the way to say "I prefer graphics over gameplay." just to defend their fanboyism. As well as extra feutures like a DVD player.
I see the PSP as a portable PS1/PS2 in a friggen Game Boy Advance with nothing, but extra feutures. Nintendo needs to pull out their copyrights. While the DS is something new never tried before.
This is just my point of view anyway...

Innovation is good, but overly ambitions projects (see: Virtual Boy), can lead Nintendo to be behind the other consoles. It has to innovate, but keep up to standards.

This is just my point of view anyway... So pretty much you're one who won't give this thing a chance? I think PSP has potntial, and it can (and, since there are Five Sony fanboys for every One Nintendo fanboy) and probably will SMASH the DS for everything it's worth. Not like the DS will be teh SUCKZ when PSP comes out, but many Sony fanboys and casual gamers alike will prefer PSP since it has 1) better visual capabilities, 2) Lots of built in crap that people their age will want (let's get this straight: PSP obviously is not the system that appeals to gamers like you and me. Maybe its battery life can't compare to DS, but it CAN compare to a mobile laptop, and who says those dudes will be playing games all afternoon long?), and 3) moves on from cartridges and onto discs that are more futuristic and can hold more information and stuff. DS will definitely put up a bigger fight in the handheld race than GC in the console race, but PSP just has a good chance of being superior.

Also I prefer cartridges over discs (for potables), because: 1) Small cartriidges like the DS' you can fit 5 or more easily in your pocket without damage, while discs you can only fit 1 disc in your pocket with high possibility that it will get scratched, and I don't want to carry cases all over the place. 2) The PSP scratches discs I'm not saying the PSP is bad. I'm saying it's not unique.

And your point? EVERYTHING scratches a disc. Hell, a PC even scratches discs.
Plus, you don't have proof that the PSP will have that problem when it's released. 'Nuff said.

I'm not saying the PSP is bad. I'm saying it's not unique. Not unique? I think it's unique, mainly because it moves onto discs, and discs have more storage capacity than cartridges. According to Nintendo Power, a GCN disc is equivalent in space to 10,000 Super Mario 64 cartridges. And a PS2 disc can already hold nearly double that of a GCN disc, and while 1 gb of storage for a DS Game Card is impressive, a PSP disc is bound to hold lots more space, since, for one, I say again, discs can hold lots more than carts. OK, I'm done...

I voted "yes" to be different. But yeah, I think change can be a good thing. It isn't always vital, but as long as the changes bring about just as much (or more) fun, I'm in!
