I'm not surprised by the results, but I can't say that I'm hapy with them. Unlike most "Top 100" lists, this one if voted on by gamers. I bet that a lot of gamers simply voted for their current favorite games, such as God of War and RE4. That would explain why the Top 10 titles are mostly recently-released games.

Argh, I hate seeing classics lose to games that just came out..I mean, RE4 is good, but it certainly isn't Chrono Trigger good.. I also think that Disgaea and Starcraft should have been higher up there.. Ok..and excuse me for a second. Xenogears. #40. I'm wondering what IGN is on.  ;; I'd say it would be neck and neck with Chrono Trigger for 1st. RE4 beating XG..*grumble* And, as much of an MGS fan I am, I'd say MGS3 DID deserve #7..but am I the only one wondering why the pie SC:CT is in 3rd? |

OoT should have been higher, i hated chaos theory and san andreas was overrated.
still i'm happy to see nintendo at the top of the pile

I don't have too many problems with the list except for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory being third. That's complete crap.
Anyway, you really can't expect complete results from something like this. It was based on IGN user ratings, so a lot of new games will have a lot of high ratings, while many old games have few ratings. I say OoT > RE4, but whatever, they're both good games.

I really can't say much; of the 99 games here, only 20 or so have I actually played.
Stupid users; ASTRO BOY OMEGA FACTOR SHOULD BE ON THAT LIST! I don't care where... but I'm sure it wasn't, correct me if I'm wrong.
And SC:CT in third? I do like it, that's for sure, but it and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes should flip; MP2:E is the better game here...
Otherwise I think I'm good, although these users really are missing out on some hits.

Anyone notice how short people's attention spans are? 7 of the top 10 are this generation (if you include Dreamcast) and a whopping 3 out of the top 10 are from 2005 alone (we're not even close to the end of the year yet). GoldenEye deserves to be in the top 10, in my opinion. I'm surprised to see so many people vote for Resident Evil 4 when there are so few GCN owners compared to PS2/Xbox, when the two are combined. I'll agree that Chaos Theory and San Andreas don't belong. San Andreas was the most over-rated game of 2004, next to only Fable and Halo 2.

Like I said, another thing that peeves me about mainstream gamers is the fact that they tend to vote for whatever came out most recently as the highest scoring games. |
