Any of the current gen systems would choke and die on CoD 2. 
A high end PC could run it for sure though. I agree in a way though, it definitely doesn't look next gen, but it makes up for it in pure fun.
The same could be said for many of the 360's launch titles though. While they may not look truly next-gen, the current gen wouldn't be able to handle them. As good as Perfect Dark looks in same areas, it even suffers from the same symptoms. The character models are pretty awful and some bits and pieces throughout the game don't look like anything special. Although in its case, it originated on the GCN, then moved to Xbox, then to 360, so maybe that has something to do with it.
