Music in video games is an important thing. A good game usually has a good soundtrack to go along with it. It adds atmosphere or something cool to listen to. While gameplay and innovation is more important than that, without music though, it can be rather boring.
Please vote and also tell us what games you think have the best soundtracks.
Jet Set Radio Future Final Fantasy I, II, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 (shudup), XI Dance Dance Revolution Baten Kaitos (call me a sucker, but this music is actually pretty good)

I've got the soundtracks of Sonic Heroes and Guilty Gear X2. Not to mention countless burned CDs full of game music and Black Mages II: The Skies Above. THAT'S how important music in a game is to me.

It can help sometimes, and other times it can be exactly why the game rocks. Case in point, Lumines and Space Channel 5.

EA game's games do have good soundtracks, but they don't feature originals. Now if only their games didn't suck and they didn't try to monopolize the gaming market, then I'd like them.

The only problem with them is that they rush games out onto the market, reducing quality and game play.
but some games are really good, like Need For Speed:Underground and the Burnout series.

Ok.... I want to answer that question, but I can't... It's asking HOW important it is, and the answers are yes and no??? But IMO, music is EXTREMELY important. It sets the mood of the scene, and gives extra interactivity with the player. And so i refer to the example i always use, the metroid Prime series. the music was so damn creepy/depressing at times i got too scared to play.
