Sp, after the long-awaited wait for the game, Final Fantasy XII has finally hit American shores... now, anybody have the game yet? I'm probably going to try and get a copy of it tomorrow.

Yep, I picked it up today. It sucks that I have a midterm Friday. I've only just begun, but I've already gotten into the fighting system and the story seems to be fairly dark but very interesting. I cant wait to get into it this weekend after my midterm is done . Tell me what you think of it when you begin, gray.

Hey, is the fighting system complicated to control? I don't understand how you can only move around one character but command 3 characters.

You don't have to command three characters. By default you control the main character, Vaan, and you can switch between the other characters to assign them orders. ITs basically like a turn based RPG taking place in real time. If you assign Vaan an action such as "attack", he will have to wait for his gauge to fill up and then he will be able to attack, and he will keep doing that command until the enemy is defeated or you tell him otherwise. So you can set Vaan to "attack" and then cycle through the other characters and command them as well without worrying about him doing nothing. Alternatively, if you wish you can just keep control of Vaan and pre-set the other characters orders by a set of incredibly deep AI options.

I bought it yesterday, but I haven't played it yet. Final Fantasy X beat me over the head when I brought XII home, saying, "But you haven't even BEATEN me yet!" And then, of course, Dragon Quest VIII just sat in the corner and cried his eyes out. Poor lonely little guy... If I'm lucky I'll be able to FINALLY beat X by the end of the week, then play XII. I'll just sing sweet lullabies to Dragon Quest to keep it company until I play it.

It's more like a mix between Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Kingdom Hearts. This is the longest Final Fantasy game to date, but I should do a review on it. It has an epic feel, but it just doesn't feel like the others, however I very much like the game, and it is at least in the top 10 of my favorite games of all time. ^^

Oh, ok. well I've never played FFXI or FFTA so I can only relate to X-2. I mean, issuing a command, then waiting for the bar to fill up until the character makesa move is very similar to x-2. But I haven't played XII so I guess i can't talk.
I wonder when it'll come out here. I'm gonna go search on google.

Hey, KoE, I am watching this thread on Gamespot that someone should be answering that same exact question. I'll tell you when I can confirm the answer, if there is one.
PS. I'm starting over my FF XII file... the beggining will taste good a second time.

Yeah, I'm about 15 hours in now. The Collector's Edition case is pretty much the best game case I have ever seen. It was worth the extra $10 for that case alone. I'm not going to watch the bonus DVD until I beat the game for sake of possible spoilers. It's very, very cool.
The game itself is fun, but I'm getting my face owned right now. I have a problem making a decent amount of money, I usually just get raped by monsters since all of my money goes towards healing items and I don't get to buy any shiny equipment.
