Oh no, I completely understand. Sega's the one working their butts off here, and it's the consumers' fault for not paying attention. Apparently, it isn't the quality of a game that decides how well it sells. See also: 50 Cent: Bulletproof outsells Psychonauts about 8 to 1. No, it would seem that like I've said, Sony changed the face of gaming negatively, to the point where the only games that really sell are about driving fancy-shmancy cars or the "thug life" (50 Cent, Saint's Row, The Con, GTA, the list goes on). Sega's surviving, and I'd love to pick up more of their games if I could actually FIND a Segabrand "not-Sonic-not-Monkey-Ball" game... Like Chu Chu Rocket!

A good game does not determine popularity, it's the idiotic market that does. Quality games and companies just can't compete with the retards. Peopel want what they are familiar with, has a license, been done before, or is said to be the next Halo killer. People are the problem. Not the games. Idiots go out and buy Fantastic 4, 50 Cent, Madden, and whatever, while good games that a new(er) or not as familiar in the states as they are in Japan like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Otogi, Phantom Dust, are left in the dust (no pun). It's an idiots market.
My favorite Sega games are Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue, Otogi, Gunvalkyrie, Gungrave (they did the 1st one, no?), and some others. Phantasy Star is a good series too, and Sonic used to be good, but now it's an annual series much like Mario (only Mario is better with the actual original platforming titles) and Madden, Need For Speed, etc...

Yeah, but sometimes people 'WILL' go and buy something if they know it's there, not just the hardcore gamers. Katamari Damacy was successful here in the states (limited production, low budget, etc etc) for what they did with it; did you hear about all the game stores calling Namco to resupply because it sold out so quickly back when it came out?
Sometimes it is the community's fault, but there can also be instances where the company itself fails to make a game sell, due to poor advertising/ways to make it known.

That is true too, but I blame the consumers for the over abundance of redundant and cliche and non-inovative games and those god awful movie license games. ><

That's a fair point right there.. licensed games. So few actually worth the purchase of the license.
Although sometimes it doesn't need creativity to be good, Astro Boy was nothing new and was still the bomb. Although that could relate to the minimal amount of side scrolling shooters today.. Creativity is a must, and will get to the point of being a necessity before long.
Companies that should never, ever ever die: Nippon Ichi, Treasure, Q? Companies that will be missed: Compile, Smilebit

I remember about the SNES and Saturn having internet, but it wasn't availble to many for they most likely didn't have internet access, and weren't those internet accessories Japan only? The Satellaview device was available in Japan only, but the Saturn NetLink modem came out in the states in 1997, and the SEGA channel (Genesis internets, not a TV channel) was available to US customers. But, as you said, the availability of internet for most people bogged down the success, in fact SEGA channel is considered one of SEGA's many reasons for filing for bankruptcy back in 2001. Where, exactly? I wouldn't be writing if I'd seen it. ._. sry about that, i noticed that he didnt really mention the Saturn system until like 25 min. after i posted that...lol

Gray, do you have a DS? Then play Sonic Rush. Much better than any of the current-gen Sonics. Or, if you can't find that (Or are just too cheap, I understand) then play the Sonic Advance games. Sonic isn't dead, and he doesn't suck... so long as the 2D games don't disappear. The 3D ones aren't that great, but you overlook the GBA and DS 2D games? It just looks like you WANT to have something to complain about. Sonic and Castlevania are always better in 2D, you know.

I just havent the money or time for them. I already have games in line and such. Castlevania games rock, but strangely I don't own any of them... weird... I just noticed that. I'm too busy with school, bass, and FF XII and FF III and maybe I might get FF V around x-mas time.

I agree with Pilgrim John. Sonic Rush is the BOMB, it won't make you like the 3D games any more, but you will know that Sega CAN make good Sonic games.
Both Sonic Advance games are good too, but I liked 2 and 3 more because they seemed a lot faster.
