It was released here in Australia on the 17th, and I got it yesterday (18th).
Despite all the average remarks of many of the reviews I have read, I'm enjoying the game throughly. The only annoying thing is that the movement of the camera is the opposite to KH2 (like if you move the right analog stick right the vision goes right, where as KH2 goes left, which I was used to since i was playing that game until last week). And the game is actually hard. Maybe its just because I haven't gotten used to the controls yet, but I died twice and I'm still on the second chapter. Ah well, whatever.

I didn't like what I played of it. It was too easy, and just seemed like a way to cash in on the overrated FF game.

Well, I can't do anything about it if that's your opinion.

Haven't played it yet... and probably won't even get to. I can barely play any games as it is, and I'm trying to slow down for now and beat the games I already have.

I think one time I'll count the game I have beaten... your message thing inspired me John. Heh, it'll probably be less than 30... I hardly ever get around to beating a game.

Well, hey, it's not like it's "easy" or something. It took me years of my life to build up that number, starting way back when I was about seven or eight, when I beat Super Mario Bros. 2. Still one of the finest NES games in existence. Back to Dirge, I hear it's got a great story to it, which may cause some to overlook the gameplay.

Pretty much everyone agrees on that.

The story ended at the end of VII, and SquareEnix started killing it by adding the boring movie, 2 medicore games, and a game we know nothing about.

Wait, what do you mean the story ended by the end of the original? You go out there and read some VII fanfics, and I can tell you that some of them are so impressive, that those stories deserve game installments. The thing is, in all these RPGs, seeing "the end" means bidding goodbye to some good friends. Of course, like all sequels, it's difficult to top the original. But that doesn't mean it is not possible (see Ghostbusters II, Spiderman 2, and play Mega Man 2).

I'm not saying that I disagree with you there, but the way that SquareEnix is relaly cashing out on the game and doing a half-assed job, they might as well have left the game be.

It's true that they're killing VII's greatness with sloppy sequels, but that only applies to Advent Children. Dirge sounds infinitely better in terms of story, and GI has even stated that the story will make you see Vincent in a new light. So I wouldn't say that VII has been beaten to death just yet.

I don't like EGM of GI magazine much. But a game that is easy and boring just isn't worth it for the story. Story might be good, but I mean, I don't like to trudge through games that are liek that just for a good story. $50 seems steep for it. Besides I already know: Vincent > Cloud & Sephiroth
