I've heard it's terrible. I'll wait for the Schthack server to come up, I had a blast playing PSOBB there.

Well, I do like PSO. But I'm told that it isn't worth the monthly fee to play online, and that's all I'd want to do unless the story is pretty good, so I'll wait for the Schthack server to pop up.

Ah yeah. It's like $10 as opposed to the old $7 or $8. Well it's not that bad. The game has gone down in price and there is an expansions coming out. Considering it is a bigger gamer than PSO I or II, it doesn't seem too bad for the fee, unless they add on to the feee with the expansion.

I made a quick review to post on Gamespot's user reviews section of PSU. Tell me what you think of my review.
<NOTE> this was for the Xbox360 version ________________________________________________________ Anybody who has played Phantasy Star Online Episodes I and/or II will find this game familiar. Why is that? It is because this is basically an updated version of PSO I & II, with new environments, new enemies, new weapons, an added offline single player story mode, and other little add ons.
PSU has two game play components, which play the same way, but one is online and the other is an offline story mode. The online version is like its told, played online with other people for a rather larger fee of $10 a month. The online version could also be played offline after you beat the offline story mode. And the story mode is self explanatory. The overall story of the game is a cliche' Sci-Fi story that we won't discuss. It is that cliche'. The story mode is spanning over 12 chapters that usually take 1-1.5 hours to complete. Each chapter is treated like an anime and is narrated in that fashion. Including having an opening theme and ending narration for the upcoming chapter. It would make for an effective, but rather cheesy anime. It gets the story out. It is still cliche', and it has it's twists and turns, but nothing new or totally unexpected.
The gameplay has remained the same since PSO I & II, but with minor exceptions like aiming with ranged weapons and dual wielding. Not really that complicated to grasp the controls, but what makes the learning curve longer is the fact that they don't teach you everything within the first chapter of the game, instead, they spread out all the different actions throughout the early chapters.
Still plays like that typical dungeon crawler. Fight, find treasure, BIG boss fight. Which as boring as it seems, it really isn't that boring, unless you have been playing for 4 hours straight, you will get bored.
Graphics are nothing special. Not high tech, but not an absolute mess. You won't have headaches from trying to tell things apart.
The music is of the same style of the previous PSO games, and it isn't bad, but none of it is really memorable, but it still isn't bad. The best way to describe it would be for a Sci-Fi techno orchestra without that 80's synth music sound.
This game is by no means bad, it just isn't anything special, unless you love PSO. Online mode is fun, but over priced.
PS. for the achievements hogs, all you have to do is beat the game.
OVERALL SCORE: 8.2

It is over-priced for having to pay continually. It was $7 for PSO or was it $8. It is a steep price for a game that isn't a full MMORPG.

So much in fact he doesn't do anything but work and play PSU anymore. I miss my friend.
