Like books? Want to talk about them? Speak your mind here, maybe someone else has.
Right now, I'm reading Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche. As some may know, Nietzsche was a philosopher and the book in question was written, along with its predecessor Thus Spoke Zarathustra, during Nietzsche's spiral into insanity. It's a really.. odd book. I'm having some trouble understanding it, so I'm reading it at a slow pace. I like it so far.

I'm really into his works. Infact I just finished that one, and currently working on Human, All Too Human. However, I'm not up for discussion. I'm also working on The Problems of Philosophy, Hyperion (sci-fi), Shogun (fiction), and too busy with school related issues and work related issues.

Hmm, most of the books I've read (Godless, The Marketing of Evil) are political commentaries. Guess it's just that I'm into that kind of thing. (To avoid spamming and/or political arguing, I'll not describe what's in those books.) But I got Eragon for Christmas. So far, it isn't very interesting, so I'm going to try getting another book to read.

I'm surprised I haven't gotten into an argument about Nietzsche yet with somebody. o.o How far are you into it? I thought it was okay. If you are interested in the sequel though... kill any interest you have for Eragon. Kill it with fire.

So far, boring. Nothing but a collection of fantasy cliches insofar, with a cookie-cutter plot and equally forgettable characters.

I once read a humorous essay criticizing philosophers. Can't remember the name of it now since I read it what, 2 years ago, but it was like, almost 20 pages detailing the numerous areas where philosophers fail.

I haven't read as much since finishing high school, but I love the Dexter books by Jeff Lindsay. I picked up both of them after seeing the show on Showtime. I think the show was actually better than the first book, but the second book was awesome. I can't wait for the second season or the third book, both coming this summer. Good stuff.

I've been reading 'The Crystal Cave' by Mary Stewart. It's all about merlin in his old days and it takes you right through his childhood years right up to the Crowning of King Arthur. It's a fabulous book and it's writenvery well.
It's the 1st part of a trilogy (Merlin Trilogy)

Can't remember the name of it now since I read it what, 2 years ago, but it was like, almost 20 pages detailing the numerous areas where philosophers fail. Philosophy isn't something that is needed to be criticized. Philosophers try to prove and fail their theories. It's sad when people laugh about thinking, because if you can't think, you are nothing but sheep. Philosophy isn't all anti-god, and not all philosophers are anti-god, but they have to think outside the box like "what if there isn't a god", it isn't against their faith really, but conviction is usless when you believe in something that can't be proven by a human, or at least close to being proven; it's the ability to think and to think about reality and our 3D world. I just bought a book on Kant's and Aristotl'es work, along with an Ayn Rand book. I havene't read Kant's work yet, but his views seem interesting from what I have read. Thank you BN for the paycheck and 30% discount.
