Since I read the original Japanese version, I'm pretty sure I'm way ahead of American fans. I don't watch the Anime, because I don't want to destroy my imagination of each character's voice.
I've been a fan since, like, forever, and I normally just can't wait until the next volume comes out... I have the entire collection at home, volume 1 to the current volume 45, and it takes up an entire row of my bookshelf.
Anyway, where's the story up to in America? I don't care if it's the anime or the manga, I just wanna know. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything.
My favourite character is Zoro, and second would be Luffy. But wait, I won't say too much just in case you haven't been introduced to some of the characters yet.

I've only collected up to 9, and am currently missing Book 7. Also, FUNimation picked up One Piece, so we're finally going to get an unedited and unstupified One Piece on our TVs and in our DVD players. Awesome! ;D |

Number 14... that'd be when the gang are on that ancient island with the 2 giants, and Mr 3 tries to interfere... oh god... I know every single volume back to front (well, at least for the Japanese version., not sure if it's the same over there)... haha.

They don't cut out anything. |

No, I just meant that they might have grouped the chapters differently... so like, I thought they might have put in more than 10 on each volume etc.
But I guess it's exactly the same.
Woah, but that's a long way off. The anime is a bit furthur up in the story right?

I dunno, One Piece was way too silly for me.. when it comes to the 4Kids version all I have to say is 'set fail for One Piece' and yeah and stuff. In terms of silly, I read this series because it is made of win and awesome and I do recommend it. And if you meant the 4Kids anime, they basically got halfway through the series themselves, but not without rewriting whole episodes and removing a whopping 43 episodes from the American continuity. |

I liked the manga and then I saw the anime. It really really killed the manga for me. T_T
