hey, i got an interesting thought. what if part of the reason gamecube disks are so small is that nintendo knows that there will be a future handheld nintendo system that plays gc games. the disks would be able to fit. so the next gameboy might be like the Gameboy enhanced.
ds doesn't have any small disks, because it might blend in with the gamecube ones.
just a theory

Interesting theory. It could be possible... Also, the smaller discs make it harder to illegally copy GCN games.

GCN games can be stored on your computer if you have the broadband adapter. I've heard that you need to use Phantasy Star Online to do it though.

There's no real theory about the discs. They were made to stop, or at least slowdown GCN piracy. Even with the other possible ways of doing it, there's only like 10 GCN games out there that you can download right now. Just shows how hard and annoying it is to copy the games...

I remember when the GCN first arrived, Nintendo said their system is for playing games, not movies or music. And since the games fit on a small enough disk there was no need for larger disks.

Cartridges are a much beter medium for handhelds.
