My 4400th Post:Special Feature -Long AND Gone-

This feature is my 4400th post. To reach this is quite a feat. Ive been here for only about 7th months, and to get this far is an honor. I present to you:



This is a special feature highlighting some games that looked very good, but at the end, got the boot (it was cancelled)

So here is the first game:

Car Combat
Pub: Nintendo
Dev: Retro Studios

This title was in work for many years. It was canned so Retro could make Metroid Prime a great game (and it worked!)! This game was a mix of Twisted Metal and Mario Kart. The animation and artwork I have seen look really nice. This game is all about "blast your opponent" and fisnish first. Retro Claims that this title, if it had been relased, would have blown Twisted Metal out of the water.

I do have 4 screens, but IGN does not allow me to distribute them.

Raven Blade

Dev: Retro Studios

This game was to be legendary. It looked amazing (and better than probally any other game here today). It was to be intense. Then..it was canned

Raven Blade was an RPG that put the player in a dying world of dragons and creatures.
Here are some features of the dead game.
A third-person action-RPG set to the backdrop of an ancient world
An epic quest involving a powerful, magical weapon called Raven Blade
Play as a knighted hero who can wield weapons and use magic
Interact with townspeople, blacksmiths, magicians, a king and more
Engage in real-time 3D battles as opposed to turn-based ones

Amass items, weapons and magic

Travel to cryptic ruins filled with demonic beasts or to a city that floats high in the sky above the land

An advanced 3D engine allows for super-realistic high-polygon models, beautiful lighting effects, cinema-quality animation and more

Single-player adventure

Anyway, those are 2 games that I want back- but are now long and gone.

If only Retro Studios had a larger staff... If they did, they could work on these games as well as MP2.

I was drooling over Raven Blade when I first saw it in NP.. and then it went by the wayside for Metroid Prime. While MP is a great game, I still almost wish Retro wasn't the developer so Raven Blade could've made it... oh well. Maybe they'll have time after MP2.

Nope, Raven Blade was canned a long time ago. But It still could happen

It ceased development, but that doesn't mean it's completely canned. Retro still has the game somewhere in their studios. They wouldn't just throw it away.

If I remember correctly, Raven Blade is "on hold." It might come back some day... You never know.

I remember seeing Raven Blade screenshots in NP. And even though this was before the GCN came out, they still look as though they can beat most anything else out there. Shame it was put on hold though. At least Baten Kaitos will be here in November. Congrats Masta. Or is that Fusion? Whatever.
