It's been updated, like Greg said. Turns out that IGN made a mistake and the new Viewtiful Joe is for GameCube and PSP, not the PS2. That's definitely good news.

April 6, 2005 - Note: Due to translation mistakes, we mistakenly mislabeled the following game as a PlayStation 2 title, when in fact, it was actually for the PSP. Our apologies for any confusion.
According to the latest issue of the popular Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu, Capcom is currently developing a brand new Viewtiful Joe title for 2005. Known as Viewtiful Joe: VFX Battle, the mysterious new follow-up isn't a proper sequel to the popular action series, but rather an open-ended fighting game that's not unlike Super Smash Bros and Digimon Rumble Arena.

Unfortunately few details about the game are currently known except for the fact that the game is already under production and that you'll be able to play as characters from both the game and the anime (such as Blue Jr, Silvia, and Joe himself). Contrary to our previous translation error, however, VFX Battle will be released for the Sony PSP and Nintendo GameCube -- and not the PS2 as originally thought.

We contacted Capcom representatives for an official comment, but they had none to provide. So we suppose that we'll just have to wait and see what happens down the road before we receive some kind of official announcement. We'll keep you updated as new information becomes available.

VJ Fighting game, eh? I hope it's done right, VFX powers if used incorrectly could screw up the game heavily, and a Smash Bros style will be intact. Btw, sorry for posting old stuff; I was unaware it was a fighting game. ;D

You didn't know that was a fighting game> I haven't even looked at the back and I new it was fighting. That is OK though.
