Besides the senseless violence of the games, Pikmin and its successor Pikmin 2 are also blatantly racist. The evidence is so obvious I am surprised no one has ever commented on it and the consequences of its racism which are certain to reek havoc on society - possibly even tearing its fabric.
Pikmin’s racism is obvious from the start. In the beginning of the game you are taught the different “races” of Pikmin, which you can tell by their color, and their different attributes. You are told the blue Pikmin are good swimmers, the yellow Pikmin can be thrown farther and can carry exploding rocks(obviously a jab at Asian people and the commonly held stereotypeof WHITE PEOPLE that they are kamikazes), and that the red pikmin can withstand flame and are the best fighters - therefor furthering the stereotype of the violent Native American. The Pikmin are also taught from the day they are plucked to follow Captain Olimar, a WHITE overseer, and do his bidding - such slave labor as knocking down walls, building bridges, and pushing boxes. They are also taught to fight to the death for him so he can recover parts for his ship - an action that suggests they believe his life is worth more than their own. Furthermore, the Pikmin are actually herded by their WHITE overseer Olimar by a whistle, much like animals.
As if this is not enough you are then told that by pressing the “X” button you can segregate the Pikmin by color. Not only does WHITE Olimar segregate them during the day, but at night he forces them to live in their own tenements, called Onions, that are also segregated by color. Pikmin 2 made this concept even more racist when they introduced the WHITE Pikmin which do not live in the low income housing of the Pikmin of color, but get to live in Olimar’s ship! The purple Pikmin, obviously representing the House Negroes of the Pikmin world, also live in the ship at night, but I would assume in the engine or something like that.
With such d**ning evidence I don’t see how any civilized person living is such a multi-cultural world could purchase or play this game, unless of course if they are researching its bigotry.
