www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=8223News: Baten Kaitos II Headed To Cube! Posted by Tphi - Sep 14th 2005 12:52 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Baten Kaitos is getting a Cube-based sequel! Fans of the game rejoice, and head inside to find out the sequel's full title! Very good news for fans of Namco's card-based battling RPG - according to the latest Famitsu, the game will see a sequel on Cube! The game is currently being called Baten Kaitos II: Hajimari No Tsubasa to Kamigami No Shishi, which translates (roughly) to: Baten Kaitos II: Wings of the Beginning and the Heir to the Gods. To clarify - this is apparently a separate title to the upcoming DS game in the franchise (whether that's a spinoff, sequel or a version of the original, we're not sure). As for this new Cube-based sequel, we hope to bring you the first news and screens from TGS this weekend. There's no real solid details, though we expect it to retain the Magnus card battling system of its predecessor. Whether the same characters will return remains unsure. The game is apparently on its way for a December launch this year in Japan, so we should be able to bring you news very soon. Interestingly, Nintendo are stepping in to market the game in Japan. More as we get it. 216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/102/102562/folders/163662/1676297uporg192806.jpg216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/102/102562/folders/163662/1676299uporg192808.jpgSource: GameKult ---------------------------- NG: This was suprising. ^_^

The first one was flawed and extremely boring, and I don't see this one chaning much. Heck, the character art in dialog boxes is still extremely ugly and the character designs look as goofy as ever. I'll pass.

I am playing the first game right now, and am thoroughly enjoying it so far. Though the story is a bit cliche and it has its share of flaws, I am really enjoying the battle system and the different characters. BTW anyone playing this game: Voice Acting=off. now.

Wow, this game came out of the blue, lol. Didn't the first Baten Kaitos not sell very well here in North America?

Hmm. I still have yet to play the first one. I dunno, the first one just never appealed to me much. When I first saw it, I saw a rip-off of Tales of Symphonia. I can't see the sequel being a whole lot different from the first.

Baten Kaitos is about as much of a rip-off of Tales of Symphonia as Universal Studios Theme Park is a rip-off of the Legend of Zelda. All misconceptions aside, Baten Kaitos is a quality RPG with a unique battle system and an entertaining story. I don't understand why so many people who have yet to play the game have such a negative attitude toward it. More people should give it a try; I just finished it and it was well worth my time. EDIT: If anyone is interested, there is a poor-quality video of the Baten Kaitos II trailer at www.1up.com/do/download?cId=3143737 . The quality is horrible, but its better than nothing.

Wait until the middle of the game, where the game's first plot twist takes place. It's one of the best plot twists I've actually seen in a game, besides one in Chrono Trigger (Where Magus wasn't summoning Lavos to conquer the world with it, y'know?). Also, the voice-acting IS lame. I hope that's one of the first things they fix first. Blech.
