I might get that new King Kong game. It looks awesome. Any opinions? I don't want to waste 50 bucks on crap... again...

While I haven't played it myself, I think it's safe to say that the game isn't crap. The press seems to like it a lot, and it's from the critically acclaimed team beyond Beyond Good & Evil.

I know some might want to break an SUV on my face for saying this, but Beyond Good and Evil just doesn't look that cool. As far as Kong goes, though, it sounds like 50 bucks well-spent.

Yeah, because looking cool is what matters in a game. BG&E is a good game. It wouldn't kill you to actually play some of these games you're talking bad about.

Really, Elements... If I believed that "games that look cool are the ones for me", I'd be playing GTA and adoring it, instead of anticipating Chibi Robo and other quirkfests. The day I get a PS2? Not getting it for GTA, that's for sure. I'll get it for games like Kingdom Hearts and Katamari Damacy. The main reason I don't want to play the game is the "Pokemon Snap" end of it. It brings back memories I don't want to live with. I am all for innovation, but even I have my limits.
EDIT: You're not happy unless you're complaining about something or arguing with someone, aren't you?

The main turnoff of BG&E is not that it didn't look cool--that doesn't matter to me worth a hill of beans (Otherwise, why do I like things like Katamari Damacy or Chibi Robo?)--it is that BG&E sounds like a meshing between Zelda gameplay (Good) and Pokemon Snap (Suck Alert!) I hate taking pictures. H.A.T.E. I.T. The concept and story are good....but really....why picture-taking? The main turn-off isn't that it doesn't look cool, but that's the reason you cited.. Anyway, the picture taking really isn't that big of a deal. You don't even have to do it very often and it's really easy to do. It's like saying "I hear everything about Zelda is great, but I just can't stand opening treasure chests!"

Or it could just mean I'm not photogenic. Or it brings back bad memories...
....Either way, whatever. To each his own.

Sorry to gang up on you again Pilgrim, but I have to side with AE again. Beyond Good and Evil is a really cool game, and I really reccomend renting it (or at least borrowing it) because it has a great story and the picture taking element is really more of a minor thing. Don't judge a book by its cover. If you do, you will end up missing out on a lot of good games.

I never judge a book by its cover, Richard... The main thing is, I don't like Ubi Soft. They may deny it, but they aren't too different than EA. Yearly sequels of Prince of Persia (Glad it's over) and Splinter Cell, unoriginal concepts in a lot of their games... Hm. Also, I've played a few of their worst games (Namely Evolution Worlds and Lunar Saga: Dragon Song for DS... ick). So here we have a case of "Once bitten, twice shy." That also explains why I'm asking as to whether or not I should get Kong. I'm just uncertain of Ubi Soft's capabilities now. BTW, I really don't see anything interesting, or intelligent for that matter, about being able to play a farting pig (His name was Pey'j, right?). I live with my dad; that's about as much farting as I want to deal with. EDIT: Also, I don't really think it makes much sense to spend money on a game I have no interest in. That's like me paying ten bucks on glass figurines instead of a cheaply priced game; it's completely out of my nature.

Yearly sequels of Prince of Persia (Glad it's over) ... have you even played the PoP games? They're far better than most of the crap that's out there, but that's not even the point. You say you don't judge a book by its cover, then you say you don't want a game because of the company that makes it. I'm tired of trying to reply to your posts. They give me a headache.

Plus, "yearly sequels to Prince of Persia" is not really a fair statement. They SAID it was going to be a trilogy after all, so how could they go on without releasing the other two parts? Prince of Persia is great, Splinter Cell is good, and some of the other stuff Ubi makes is alright. I prefer them to EA, but both of the companies have their share of trash. If all else fails you can always just rent King Kong to make sure its worth your money.

Dude, Shenmue was (supposed to be) a trilogy, but even then, they didn't have one Shenmue per year. I'm just saying that having one installment per year just doesn't give enough time to innovate upon that project. That's bad. And yeah, I understand that there a few Ubi Soft games worth playing (Like Rayman and Splitner Cell), but even then, they don't feel very innovative or original. The gameplay, I mean. I've been there--platforming, sneaking around, etc.--but in different games, most of which were more fun to play. I'll always pick Klonoa over Rayman and Metal Gear Solid over Splinter Cell simply because they've perfected the genres that Ubi Soft struggles to emulate. I'm sorry, but I just don't care about Ubi Soft. And by the way, I've played demos of Kong at every store I could find one at, so there's a good chance I'll pick up a copy when its price goes down.
EDIT: Elements, you didn't have to reply in the first place. If you thought I was skipping out on a great game, then that's my fault. No need to get headaches over my opinions. *Note--judging the book by the cover means that I read the concept and try to understand it. The fact that I dislike Ubi Soft isn't a concept check... If that were true, I would've just looked at Kong's case, said "UBI Soft?!" then forgot about buying it at all. If they made a truly original game, Ubi Soft or no, I'd buy it. But BG&E just doesn't compare to Katamari Damacy or Super Mario Bros.

Come on Pilgrim John, go easy on Ubi Soft, they're French, they can't help it. Seriously, though, I rather like Ubi, and BG&E is more that a great game. I absolutly loved it... untill my copy was stolen. WHEN I WAS NEER THE END OF THE DAMN GAME!

Ubisoft is one of my favorite teams. Still cheering for them against the EA powerhouse. Anyway pick up King Kong used if you can find it.
