It just came out here. I read the RN review by Justin, and I'm thinking about getting it. But, I would like other people's opinions as well. Should I?

a. Don't listen to what other people have to say just to form an opinion. Your opinions ought to be YOUR opinions. b. IMO, Battalion Wars was pretty embarrassing.

a. Don't listen to what other people have to say just to form an opinion. Your opinions ought to be YOUR opinions. b. IMO, Battalion Wars was pretty embarrassing. A. Not everyone has the money to go out go out and purchase every game that they're interested in. Some people like to hear the good and bad about games before hand in hopes that they get a good opinion on whether the title fits their needs are not. This is the reason why the video game industry has journalists. I hate when people tell others to go form their own opinion by going out and getting it. It isn't that easy and other people's opinions are great to have. I actively seek out opinions every time they hit the press. B. If you think the game is "embarrassing," at least back up your claim and prove that you've played enough to have a valid reason for your opinion. For me, I say buy it if you have the extra money for a quality B title. The game is fun and the art style is charming, but Battalion Wars isn't free of flaws. You read my review so you know how I feel on it, and what I like and dislike about it, so anything I say in here will simply be restating something I've already said. If you do get it, don't get impatient or you might not have a good time. Your troops are going to die quick and you're going to get frustrated. On some levels you can kind of rush through, but for the bigger levels that put you in control of a lot of troops, take your time, and you'll do a lot better.

Hm, that's probably why... I'm usually a very "rush to the finish" kind of person...
Anywho, some people RENT the games first before buying, a practice that I should really consider... I own too many crap games (Platoon, Sonic Adventure, etc). Renting is cheaper. And it's really all too often that journalists put games on platforms when they don't belong there (Namely GTA) and completely obliterate the good games with exaggerated reviews (Like the N64 and PS2 Castlevanias). But then again, all opinions are valid, even if they're stupid. (NOTE: Not referring to subject at hand)

Renting is always an option, but even then I feel ripped off if I don't really like the game. It isn't exactly cheap to rent unless you subscribe to something like Gamefly.

Renting isn't my style. I know you'll save a lot of money and all, but it just isn't my style.
I'm quite an impatient person, but at the same time, I do like spending a lot of time to complete a game so this might be good for me. And I do like strategy kind of games.

I only rent a game when I desire the game, but am not quite sure... An example is the upcoming Naruto Clash of Ninja for Gamecube. Anime-based games have had a pretty bad track record (And the endless DragonBall Z game line only makes it worse). But on the other hand, a few anime-based games surprised me, such as Astro Boy: Omega Factor for GBA and Jump Superstars. But since the ratio is still too many bads to too few goods, I'll RENT Naruto, just to see if it's cool. But then, there are also games that I don't care about period that everyone spouts off as "cool." BACK TO SUBJECT: Have fun, King of Evil.

Well, I bought the game today. And I'm loving it! Yay!
I haven't quite mastered the controls and therefore haven't been able to get my mind to tactics so I got slaughtered a few times.

Yeah, i like this realistic-yet-not-realistic kind of feel to the game. I'm starting to be able to get my mind around unit placements and tactics more.
Had real trouble with the defending Fort Omaha mission. I just beat the one where you first get to use a gunship. I ended up beating the mission with 1 Assault Vet, 1 tank and 1 recon... My gunship got slaughtered when I went into the base with all the MG nests... didn't realise there was a single AA tank just waiting.
