There's some really cool things about the SP. It has a built in light, a rechargable battery and it looks a lot sleeker. The only downside is that it doesn't have a headphone jack...
Overall, I think the GBA SP is worth getting.

The only reason I'd get an SP is the light...
Other than than, I like the GBA better...

Overall, I think the GBA SP is worth getting. It HAS a headphone jack... the recharger jack is the headphone jack.. you can buy the headphones almost anywhere that sells GBA/SP accessories. They couldn't fit a normal headphone jack in it because of the size of the GBASP itself.. it's already packed with parts... I know.. I asked Nintendo why they weren't able to use a regular jack.

Meh... The light is not worth the extra money... It's not only the light. The rechargable battery saves you a ton of money on batteries. How many batteries on average have I went through for my GBA every month? Around 40-50 a month.. and that's a sh*tload a money to go through.. around.. $80.. maybe more.. depends.. but that's ALOT of money when it comes to batteries alone. With the rechargable battery in the GBASP.. it saves you even more money, 'cause the light would've used up even MORE money on batteries. It also saves on electricity.. 'cause you won't even have to use an AC adapter.. just the rechargable AC adapter which is used to recharge the GBASP battery.. instead of being a seperate optional accessory. Also.. you won't have to use ANOTHER light.. like a lamp to see the screen.. 'cause the GBASP has a built-in light.. so therefore.. you're also saving money on your electricity bill. Also.. the size of the GBASP itself is smaller, and more compact.. and when it comes to technology.. smaller size (not file size) is better... and plus the fact that it has a flip-top design, the screen gets protected from scratches much easier than a GBA. You could also use the GBP.. but it ain't as good as a GBASP.. why? Because you would need the GCN itself to run it... plus the graphics look a bit bloated and a bit too bright.. 'cause the Game Boy games are being played on a much bigger screen.. the GBP is still good.. but you need the GCN to run it.. and if you don't have a GCN.. then you can't get it really. So therefore.. the GBASP is more worth the money than the GBA and the GBP. So... - Built-in light, so you don't have to use a lamp or worry about any glares for nighttime use (less lamplight use = less electricity cost)
- Saves money on batteries and electricity bills (the recharger only uses a very small amount when it's being used to recharge the battery.. even saves more on electricity than the optional AC Adapters for the GBA)
- Flip-top design helps prevent scratches on screen
- Better picture than a GBA and even better than the GBP (Game Boy Player) Why? 'Cause the graphics look smooth on the GBASP.. while on the GBP it's bloated... because of the bigger screen size.. Also.. you need a GCN to use a GBP

- The light is the only reason to buy it.
- I have 2 battery packs for my GBA that can alternat recharging and only take a few hours to do so.
- Being careful with it also prevents scratches. Also, the size is too small. Us with bigger hands have a harder time using it.
- IMO the graphics don't make the game. I don't care if the picture is not as sharp on my GBA or a little bloated on the GBP. And I already had a GCN, so it didn't matter.

Again.. the light is NOT the only reason to buy it. MOST people would rather not buy the optional rechargable battery packs (and other reasons) for the GBA because: - The battery packs ain't an official Nintendo licensed product, nor does Nintendo endorse using unlicensed products for it.... and if the GBA gets screwed up if the warrenty is still valid, Nintendo will not fix it 'cause of the chance it was damaged by the unlicensed product. They wouldn't even fix it if they found out an unlicensed product screwed it up if the warrenty is no longer valid and you had to pay for it. How do I know? A few yrs ago when my fuschia colored GBC screwed up because of an unofficial AC Adapter I used made it quit working, I asked Nintendo if they could fix the problem... I told them what happened.. and they said they would not fix it because of the reason I used an unofficial product. Also... those battery packs, no matter who makes them (unless it was by Nintendo.. which they never did make battery packs), has a 3x higher rate of leaking and destroying the GBA... and that was proven to be true.
- While being careful does help cut back on the scratches, it ain't proven to signifigantly (sp?) reduce scratches. I've been careful with my GBA.. yet the screen is filled up with tioo many scratches. SO.. people would rather have an official way of preventing scratches. Also.. people would rather not.. or don't know about.. or just can't get the screen cover repair kit you can buy for less than like $7 directly from Nintendo.
- The majority of people prefer graphics over playability.. so therefore.. the GBP doesn't appeal to everyone. Also.. some people just don't have a GCN.. or just can't get a GBP 'cause of financial reasons, or stubborn parents (if you're not living on your own.. or just too young to do so).
- Also.. my hands are just as big as some full grown male's hands.. and yet I can use the GBASP with no problem.. it just takes a bit of learning of what position is best to have your fingers at ect. I always have my right pointer finger resting right above the buttons.. and right below the screen.. while I have the rest of my unneeded fingers wrapped around eachother while holding the GBASP... kinda like in a cup-like position.
