can the time be changed from a 24 hour clock to a 12 hour clock? it would be easer to read if it said 6:42 PM rather then the currently displayed time 18:42

Well, you have to change that yourself. Everyone has the option of what format they want. Go to your profile and scroll down to the Time part. Look for "Time Format" and choose how you want it.
