Well, they rated Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap a 9.5 out of 10, not to mention February 2005's Game of the Month. It was a real good thing, and pretty nice, since it went up against some serious competition, like the sequels to MechAssault, EverQuest and even Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, not to mention World of Warcraft. From the review: "It's a classic adventure that more than lives up to the legacy of a classic series." Thought I'd let you guys see that bit of news

(Well somehow I'm not really surprised it beat Everquest >.>)
Anywho, Minish Cap was a good game...it just seemed a bit too straightforward and simple for me. Zee world map was just tiny. The dungeons were a bit simple, but it is a very nice addition to the 2d Zelda games.

People actually read GI? Yes, I read GameInformer. Is that a bad thing?

GI is the worst gaming magazine publication by far. Their Paper Mario 2 score was unforgivable, and the rest of their content sucks

Paper Mario is my favorite game ever. I will let that burn in their hearts forever.

Gee, I didn't know GI was so bad for this community... though we do all have our opinions. Personally I didn't care about that score for Paper Mario 2. It was their opinion (though I did think it was a tad harsh), and games I love get scored low anyway (I like the PS2 version of Astro Boy, for example, and they gave it a 5.5 out of 10... though I still would give it a 7.0), nothing that'd ruin my life. And it still got scored well everywhere too (9.0 GotM from EGM, and various other high ranked scores.). So I'd say if GI wasnt so harsh (and didn't score games based on public reaction), it would probably have been a good game. But aren't you the least bit happy for this score? I'd hope you guys would be.

I haven't played it yet I can understand that, but usually people read reviews before buying (or renting) a game. So aren't you kind of happy for the score?

I like reading GI for their exclusive previews of big upcoming games (although lately, the exclusives have been kind of boring). The reviews can be a little... er, different, at times. But, I'm glad that Minish Cap got a good score.

Actually, that was NOT their opinion. They said that they liked it but they gave it a lower score because they thought it was too kiddy for most people. What kind of review standards are those?!?!

Yeah, I thought that was really weird... Why would GI give a game a low score because other gamers might not like it? They should score it based on their own opinion.

Calm down people, no need to start something over this.
GI is arguably the best and most unbiased gaming mag out there. But all magazines can have a few mistakes to them. For instance, GI recently gave Monster Hunter a terrible score because it was too difficult. This just so happened to be the exact same team of reviewers that reviewed Paper Mario 2. Now, if any hate was directed at anyone, shouldn't it be the reviewers and not the magazine as a whole? I think it is pretty stupid to boycott a magazine just because it says one thing about a game.
