So, who are your favorite game composers? My personal picks would be:
Koji Kondo: Mario Bros. Theme, Zelda theme, all the music in every Zelda up to Majora's Mask (meaning he did all the music in LoZ, AoL, ALttP, LA, OoT, OoA, OoS, and still works on the series), a lot of the music in Super Smash Bros., yeah, he does a bit of Ninty's Music
Harry Gregson-Williams: Metal. Gear. Theme. This guy does not do video games only (He's done the music for movies such as Shrek and Armageddon), but I still count him as one because of his amazing work on the Metal Gear Solid series. The opening sequence to Sons of Liberty would not have been the same without his music.
Hirkazu Ano (sp?): He does the music for F-Zero, or at least the Mute City theme for SSBM. I love the music in F-Zero, so he gets props.
Whoever did the Halo Theme: I'm too lazy to load my game/look in the manual's credits section, so I'll just say it here. The Halo theme is awesome. You just need to hear it to believe it.

I'd have to say that Koji Kondo is my favorite. He's made a lot of memorable turns and I even have his Mario theme as my cell phone's ringtone.

Anywho, I'd say whoever did the soundtrack for the NES Mega Man games should get props here, too. And the guy who made the soundtrack for Castlevania (I used to remember his name... Now I forget). BUT! The number-one songwriter... DAVID WISE! He worked on Donkey Kong Country's 1, 2, and 3. He did Diddy Kong Racing. The nice themes from Star Fox Adventures were also his doing. David Wise is a musical genius.
