What started out as an awesome idea on another thread has become its own thread! Sweet! So, besides my "ambush, then a miniboss" idea for half of one on-foot level, what do you guys think needs to be added to this cool idea? Story is important, too, so if anyone has ideas for the next Starfox game, put 'em here.

All I care about are the Arwing missions. If Nintendo wants to throw in some on-foot stuff, or "ambush, then a miniboss" levels, that's fine with me. But, there has to be a bunch of solid, Star Fox 64-style Arwing missions. If you couldn't tell, I'm a huge fan of SF64 and its Arwing missions.

The only thing Nintendo needs to do for the next SF game is remove all on-foot missions. Fox was made to fly his Arwing and take up a tank when necessary, and that's where he should stay. It's the best part of the game, anyway. No one remembers the ground battles like they do flying through Star Fox 64. Fox. In air. Period.

Well, he'd have to come out sometime! It isn't as if the Arwing has a bathroom or refrigerator in it. Besides, that's what I liked about Assault, you got to play as Fox. In the first two, you just played his ship/tank/submarine. I wanted to play the pilot because he is cool. Besides, Starfox needs to go into another (hopefully positive) direction, if simply to save it from the same thing that has plagued GTA and Pokemon: It would become more of the same. That's bad. Don't get me wrong, I like the flying missions, but Fox needs to strut his own stuff every once in a while, and it shouldn't just be limited to SSB.

Well...the last Starfox game I played was for 64. So...I like Arwing missions. So I say it should be an awesome remake of the 64 version.

Gehhh... Whatever happened to innovation?
I just saw this thread as Post of the Week. Awesome. Even though, as far as ideas for the next game go, this hasn't been very successful. Although, here's one, since no-one will even think about anything other than how good the flying missions will be: While fighting the miniboss (mentioned earlier), Falco will leap in guns blazing to cover you from the ambushers as you try to take care of the rocket-launcher toting big dude. Since he's heavily armored, the only way to take him down is fire at a rocket that's been launched at you--after the guy fires it, it will pause for a second before it really picks up speed; that's your cue. Blow it up to damage his armor until it breaks. He'll then ditch the rocket launcher and whip out the Gatling gun. Hiding behind nearby pillars will help, although the bullets will shred the things like cheese. Wait till he attempts to reload, then come out of hiding and blast him. Find another pillar or something to hide behind, then repeat bout three or four times. He's down for good. About this time, Falco will fall into a trap. The ambushers have brought in the real threat--a tank! Pick up the Gatling gun that the big guy dropped and help out Falco (make sure he doesn't die). It's best to aim for the treads first, at least until it's immobile. When that happens, more enemy troops appear with bigger weapons. Keep plowing away at the tank until its HP hits zero. End of level! Jason's Edit: Please don't double post. I've merged your two posts together.

That sounds like quite a fun boss fight, John.

That sounds like quite a fun boss fight, John. Thanks. Also, since this level takes place in a mansion, I thought "Wouldn't it be cool to have a fight on those big chandeliers?" So, level 2 would kinda go like this: Fox and Falco head further into the mansion after defeating the ambush in order to find and hopefully rescue the ambushers' prisoner: a brilliant man who holds the key to stopping whatever threat is befalling the Lylat system today. However, their methods of torture have warped the poor guy's mind, so now he believes you to be his enemy. He knifes Falco in the back at the beginning of this level, and you have to chase him (Slippy takes Falco back to the ship) throughout the mansion. He'll try anything to ditch you--smoke bombs, machine gun fire, knocking down pillars with his "knock-stuff-over" device(lame name subject to change), whatever. When Fox eventually corners him, he leaps onto a chandelier. Now, here's the cool part. The guy throws his knife at Fox, knocking Fox's gun out of his hand. So now, we have a chandelier fistfight, similar to the "no-holds-barred duel" between Solid and Liquid Snake. Except that the chandelier moves (duh). So you have to lay down the law on this guy (Who I'll refer to as "Dr. Cunner") with your fists, try not to fall off due to the way the chandelier swerves, and try not to knock Dr. Cunner off either (After all, your mission was to retrieve him, not kill him). So, after you whittle his health down to zero, the level ends.

You know what I say? Boot Namco off of Starfox, and have Nintendo make it. I'm okay with the ground missions, as long as the game isn't delayed 4 months and then is as short and repetitive as hell. Oh, and some new voice actors.

Oh, and some new voice actors. Sounds good to me. Starfox Adventures was the only Starfox game with voice-acting that didn't come with an "I wanna tear my ears off" attached. Here's a rundown of which voice actors ought to play whom: Fox McCloud... Richard Hayworth (voice of Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin) Falco Lombardi... Lex Lang (Voice of Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin) Peppy Hare... Crispin Freeman (Voice of Amon from Witch Hunter Robin) Slippy Toad... Joshua Seth (Voice of Cyborg 009 from the show with the same name; also did Tai's voice from Digimon season 1) Wolf O'Donnell... David Hayter (Voice of Solid Snake) Leon Pawolski... Cam Clark (Voice of Liquid Snake, Kratos from Tales of Symphonia, Andrei Ulmeyda from Killer7, HeMan (I'm not kidding), among others) *NOTE: Due to a mysterious (ahem) "accident", Panther will not be listed. RIP, Panther. You were ten times the loser at twice the height* Krystal... Jennifer Hale (Voice of Sheena from Tales of Symphonia, Samus from Metroid Prime (what very little grunts and screams there were), Princess from the Powerpuff Girls, the list goes on) Additional voices should include: Michael Gough (Dan Smith from Killer7 and Krauser from Resident Evil 4) Dorothy Elias Fawn (Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin) Debra Cunningham (Misao from Rurouni Kenshin) Scott McNeil (Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing and RatTrap from Beast Wars and Beast Machines)

John - I've noticed that your ideas are straying further and further away from traditional Star Fox gameplay... But, hey, they're still pretty cool. The fistfight sounds fun. NN - I definitely agree. I enjoyed Star Fox Assault and the gameplay that Namco added to the series, but I think that Nintendo does a much better job with SF. It is the Big N's own franchise, after all.

Well then, let's see... How about we have some kind of Element to the laser beams, like Fire or Ice? You could switch them with the shoulder buttons. That should prove interesting.
