Nintendo on the increase - (January 02, 2006)
DFC Intelligence have given some pretty good results about Nintendo and the rest of the gaming market. Nintendo, with it's philosophy of bringing in new users, has played a part in increasing the overall gaming market by 7 percent. This is huge if you take in to account the large original market value.
Nintendo could be on their way to a huge success, having the highest market value increase out of them, Sony and Microsoft. From February 2005 to December 2005, Nintendo's market increased by 15% thanks to the Nintendo DS and it's 'new user and fun' philosophy, as opposed to the other's 'hardcore users and power' philosophy. That gives them a $18,565 hold on the market. Nintendo are 4th in the largest value ranking.
You will also notice that, with the release of the Xbox 360, Microsoft still only increased by 1%. Possibly because of the early release or the hardcore user philosophy.
The company to suffer most was Atari, with Take-Two Interactive and EA following.
The full market is as follows:
Company - Market Value 2/8/05 - Market Value 12/15/05 - Change
