www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=5995News - E3 Booth Babes Now Extinct Posted by Ryan Dean at 05:29:17 PM EST on 1.23.2006. Oh, a true tragedy in the world of gamers - it seems there will be no more E3 booth babes, starting at E3 2006. How do we know? Check out this new entry in the exhibitor's handbook: Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show. ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable. Does this mean E3 will wither away and die? No, but don't count on as much flirting while you watch Nintendo show their Revolution titles. --------------------------------- NG: Looks like E3 will never be the same again. Booth babes are indeed hot, but if this is gonna help the game industry break stereotypes for women, then so be it. After all, it's all about 'games', isn't it. Not women dressing up as sexy video game character cosplays in event tradeshows.

I remember hearing rumors that this was going to happen a few years back... I'm honestly surprised it took them so long. The game industry wants to be treated the same as every other entertainment industry, and that means they have to act like the others too. You don't see barely-clothed booth babes at Sundance.

You mean gamers are finally going to stop objectifying women? Probably not, but at least at E3 06, we can put our full attention on the games instead of being distracted by non-gaming-related themes.
