You could probably get the special screw driver and a new battery for the game.

Maybe..
I'm using another AC adapter that I had here for the N64. It works. It hasn't been giving me problems. But I need a new controller.. it's hard to play any games with it. And Nintendo's prices for a new controller are obscene.. they're still the same price they were a few years ago..
So I'm gonna e-mail them sometime and ask them why they're still at that price.. and see if they could lower it eventually. I shouldn't have to pay $24.95 for an older system's controller still... =/

Get some used, I don't know. Get third party N64 controllers new, I've seen them.

I don't use third party controllers.. they f*ck my hands up with the carpal-tunnel syndrome that I have.. the only ones I can handle are Madcatz for the PSs, as long as they ain't the really tiny ones.
And used N64 controllers suck. Do you know how many I have gotten and quit working or the joysticks literally broke in half? I had too many problems with them..

...okay... well Nintendo is most likely not going to reduce the price of the controllers... these are controllers they have left, correct? they aren't remaking them, correct? this might be why the price is high.

N64 controllers aren't as painful as you guys are making it sound. I get carpal tunnel sometimes too, but the N64 controller was pretty good, not the best, but it was good. As far as used go, first-party hardware is usually the best to go... I picked up a third party controller for my N64 once, and the control stick really DID break in half.
