Gears of War a Halo & Halo 2 killer?

I never recalled it getting called that in the creation of the game, but by OXM standards, it killed Halo & Halo 2.
Halo got a 9.5, which is a high rated game, and then Halo 2 got a 9.7 being the highest rated game until Gears of War came out. GoW got a 10. I know, I don't live my life by reviews, but does Halo have a new rival? Not that it's for a seperate system, but it still is competition for a fanbase.

I think that the phrase "(Famous Franchise)-Killer" only serves to kill the game it is attached to. Gears of War is Gears of War. It has its own things that make it special. Saying that it is "Halo-Killer" takes all that away because it leads people to think that it's a lot like Halo, complete with everything that made Halo a likeable game for some people, plus some sharper attachments and fancier graphics.
So, whenever a new game is coming out, I dislike hearing that it's a "Famous Franchise-Killer." These games are worth a lot more than this label says.

Just because a game is good and has guns in it doesn't mean it has to compete or kill Halo. First of all, GoW is in third person. Secondly, the game is more focused around taking cover and advancing your position bit by bit until you rout the Locust. If you try to be like Halo and just Rambo your way through GoW, you're going to get massacred. Two different games, two different play styles. Why does it have to be a "Halo Killer" just because it's a good shooter on the 360?

True, but I mean review wise. It has creamed Halo and Halo 2 at most sites, or at least Halo 2.

Look, Halo and Halo 2 were grossly overrated to begin with. If anything, it sounds more like poetic justice. Still, I might want to give Gears a try...

gow is a good game but it doesnt have to be compared to halo, just cuz there both good games

even tho I believe too that halo2 was way overrated

Okay, just because they arent the same thing doesnt mean that GoW isnt better than Halo2. Halo2 got kileld by GoW review wise. How about that?A shooting game is a shooting game, whether its stealth, run & run, FPS or TPS, is doesnt matter.

You cant really go by many reviews cause thats their opinion and not yourself
mainly a lot of people r gonna like halo better and probobly even more will like GoW, but it still wont make halo suck for the people that like it.

I know that much. I'm not stupid. I don't go by people's reviews, but the thing is that peopel are usually bias in favor of Halo or Halo 2 or whatever.

Oh well, whatever the ****... anyways:
the averages are 94.0 for Gears of War and 94.7 for Halo 2. All things considered, it is still pretty good considering that Halo 2 did have bias in it's favor for it being the sequel to a kick ass game.

to me however, Halo 2 was a letf-down, not that I was hyped, but Halo seemed better, and the weapons in Halo 2 sucked, and the online multiplayer sucked harder.

What I mean to say I guess is that Gears of War was an anticipated but not a overly hyped up game with bias going in its favor, and its a game thats been done before, but has such high reviews, even if Halo 2 beat it by a .7% average, that Gears of War still creamed it, and that says a lot.

Gears of war isnt and cannot be a Halo and Halo 2 killer. Gears of war isnt in the FPS genre, its a 3rd person squad based shooter.
