As the thread suggests, whats if your favorite game of all time, and why. Notice it isn't plural, however if you are indecisive, go ahead and put 2 or 3 and explain why.
My favorite would be Final Fantasy VI. The story is the most in depth and dramatic for a 2D RPG. Had some comic relief, but wasn't too cheesey. It was awesome all the way through. Had a good mix of characters and back stories that were interesting. The music was spectacular. And the art design was very well done. This game should deserve a 3D remake for the Wii or maybe even an anime. I can imgine an anime would be fitting for the action and the awesome story and characters. ;D

Whoa, wait. Favorite game? No way I'm gonna limit this to just one. So I'll just pick ten games from off the top of my head that I thoroughly enjoyed: Guitar Hero II, Viewtiful Joe, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Gunstar Heroes, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Contra, Super Mario Bros. 3, Final Fantasy VI, and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

Well, I think my favorite would have to be Xenosaga III. Why? There are lots of reasons.
As far as the game goes, it was a fairly major improvement over Xenosaga II. Lots of crappy decisions were made during Episode II's development: many members of the original staff that created the story had either left or had been fired (even Soraya Saga, the main screenwriter and in fact the director's freaking wife had been laid off), and lots of new directions were taken to change a lot of what made the first game great. Unfortunately for them, their efforts didn't really pay off very much because the majority of the fanbase didn't really appreciate it. Because really, it wasn't broken. So why try to fix it?
So then they knew that they had done wrong, from a critical and commercial standpoint, and not only did they slash the series' length in half (from six games to three), but they also decided to bring back some of the things that made the first game great - primarily the art style and, for us American players, the return of some of the original voice actors. The end result was wonderful - you couldn't ask for a better sequel. The story, the conclusion, the graphics, the gameplay, all that jazz. I can't think of many people who didn't like the game.
But I think the reason I loved it so much is that it sort of touched me in a personal way. Particularly, it was the personality of the main character, Shion. Throughout the game I could relate to her struggles, as I had come to realize that after the game, her emotional conflicts were practically identical to my own when I first ran through the game. Yeah, I know that I didn't have religious visions, and I never went on an intergalactic journey in order to make the universe last just a little longer, but I knew how she felt. I could understand what she was going through.
The one downside to her own character development is that there are more than a handful of characters who don't get any character growth done. In fact, a lot of these characters are your own party members - Shion, Allen and KOS-MOS could've been your party through the whole game, since they're the ones who get the most screentime as far as protagonists go.
But even with that issue, I still loved the game through and through. Shion is the most developed main character I've ever known, and I like her much more than any other character. It also helps that the game was pretty, fun to play, fun to watch, and beautifully composed (their composer's got a lot of skill - Yuki Kajiura previously composed the soundtracks to anime like .hack//SIGN and Noir, the latter of which is also a personal favorite).
What's great about this is, with a property like this, Nintendo's become a really formidable player as far as serious RPGs go (but they could make great ones on their own - Paper Mario was great, and almost all my friends are Fire Emblem fans). Even if they ported this game to Wii I'd buy it again just because I love it so much, same with any of the previous games in the series. It is kinda sad that the series creator left Monolith after Nintendo acquired it, but if Baten Kaitos was any indication, they're still capable of making creative games on their own. They just won't be as great as this game was.

Fine. Guitar Hero II-- Great song list. Viewtiful Joe-- Creative graphics, characters, music, and gameplay. A Link to the Past-- Super Nintendo classic, introduced most of the mainstay weapons and items in the series. Gunstar Heroes-- Nonstop action with anime overtones and artwork. Shadow of the Colossus-- awesome story and graphics, plus the Colossi were killer. MGS: Twin Snakes-- Because it's a better version of an already-classic game. Contra-- It's obvious this game inspired Gunstar Heroes, and although not quite as action-packed and frantic with creative boss fights, there's a lot left over for Konami to still feel proud of. Mario 3-- Tanuki suit, plus Kuribo's shoe. FFVI-- Best game in the series, yet for some reason is always left behind in favor of VII. Damn you Sephiroth! Dawn of Sorrow-- First truly enjoyable portable Castlevania. Also: Soma Cruz. He is his own reason why you should own this game. There's also a variety of worthy runner's-up... Wario Land 4, Donkey Kong Country 2, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Sunshine, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Starfox 64, Metroid Prime, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasies VII and VIII, Wario Land 4, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Psychonauts, Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, Guilty Gear X2, Killer7, Megaman X, F-Zero GX, Resident Evil 4.... (loses place) T.T
