Today at the Game Developers Conference, the company announced the first product to emerge from the label, Project GB for the DS. Described as "a serious game on the Nintendo DS," Project GB promises to teach the common gamer how to make games. The game is being developed internally at Square Enix by a staff of 10 people and has been in the works for one month. A company representative played the game at a GDC presentation today, Famitsu.com reports. The representative made modifications to what looked like a version of Space Invaders, customizing the appearance of the player's ship and adjusting balance. Following the demo session, Square Enix reps revealed to the site that the game will allow players to learn game development from a beginner's perspective. The title will include network functionality, allowing players to exchange data. Aside from this, little is known about this first Series Games game. Square Enix has yet to announce a release date. *NG*: Interesting. A game like this could be very useful for nonvoices in learning how to make games.

According to Gamasutra, Square Enix isn't even sure if this game will be released. I'm hoping it is, but honestly, it seems a bit too niche to ever be sold to the public.
