Meteos
The evil planet Meteo has began launching meteos, and a space ship called the Metamo Ark is going to save the world from Meteo by lining up the meteos's in a line of 3 and having them rocket up and away from the planet.
Gameplay-- The gameplay in this game is pretty different and unusual compared to other puzzle games. In most puzzlers you control the falling blocks...but leave it to Q to mix it up a bit. In Meteos you have absolutely no control over the meteos as they fall from the sky. Instead you control the already fallen Meteos. You can move the meteos up or down in their individual rows. Matching 3 of the same color causes them to launch up and towards space...or as the case in Star Trip mode, towards opposing planets. This game has a few different modes of play, a mode where you just play one game of meteos against no one or other opponents. The game is very fast-pace and fun...but also very difficult. You may start panicing when the meteos start to fall quickly. The other main mode is Star Trip. You travel to many planets launching Meteos to destroy the enemy planet. The other modes aren't worth mentioning....besides multi-play. It is just the single game mode but against your friends....against whom you try to launch meteos and destroy their planet. All of these modes are very fun, and have no real faults.
Sound-- The game has an excellent soundtrack...the sounds fit in really well with each level...like a cowboy theme for a desert planet.
Graphics-- Puzzle games usually have the same kind of graphics. Besides the opening cut- scene, the graphics for meteos are just that of an everyday 2D falling-block puzzle game. But, with an added bit of flashiness. The blocks on certain planets look really neat with that extra flash.
Overall-- I give Meteos for the Nintendo DS a 8.9 out of 10.
Pros-- Excellent gameplay, amazing sound
Cons-- Story isn't very good....but then again, this is a puzzle game.
