Wee, another review by me. 4 total in one month. That's a record for me. Scary...
I use a rating system like everyone does when they review something, but I use it in my sort of way. You know how you got graded in school? They would divide your correct answers by the total amount of answers, and then you got your grade for that assignment? That's how I do it after I add up my points. I simply add up each section's points, and then start dividing. This is simply my system. For this particular review, there is a total of 60 possible points.
Note: I would've had this review up sooner, but I recently discovered I had a way to connect to WiFi, so I wanted to spend some time playing on there before I finished up this review. I actually had most of the review done, but I wanted to have a WiFi section as well. Gotta love living in an apartment building where someone else owns a router, and you can be sneaky connecting to it. *is evil*
Finally, a Mario Kart game for the Nintendo DS. And one that uses the Nintendo WiFi Connection. We've all played the Mario Kart games. OK, maybe not all, but most of us has. If you've been a long time Nintendo Power subscriber, you may remember a contest where you could win 2 Go Karts (A Mario one and a Bowser one). This was during the Super Nintendo days. I didn't win the grand prize, but I won 2nd, and I got Super Mario Kart. That's how I got into the series. I was never into any sort of racing games until then. Well, here is my review of one the latest installments of one of the greatest Nintendo series of all time.

Rating: 9/10
This game has some pretty good graphics. Not perfect, but they are really easy on the eyes. At least for me anyways. I don't have a problem with them. As long as I can see the track ahead and around me easily, no problems.
Gameplay:
Rating: 9/10
You can play this game with yourself, or a few friends. Either by Local Area Network (LAN) connection, or by WiFi. I'll do the WiFi in a seperate section. This game is fun either way. I still love and miss Mario Kart 64... as that is still my favorite MK game (there was something about that game that got me hooked to it...), but this one almost ties the #1 spot for me. This game is pretty fun, it has new tracks and ones from the older games, which I thought was pretty cool. It added more cups to beat in all the usual classes, 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc, and even a few little secrets are added in the game. You can even design your own pattern, or emblem for your favorite kart(s). That way, not everyone will have the same design while playing over WiFi.
Controls:
Rating: 10/10
The controls are simple. You drive, steer, use items, and get knocked silly. The game has very simple controls. A to Accelerate, B to Brake, and you can use items with the L or X buttons. You can also change your map on the touch screen with the stylus, or by pressing the Y button (though I find it easiest to change by moving my thumb away from the control pad for a second to touch the screen). And you still have your slide (drifting) button, R. Very simple. Making your emblem is also easy. You can use the stylus, or use the usual control pad and buttons method.
Sound/Music:
Rating: 9/10
The game does has some pretty good music. While I don't really pay attention to it while I'm trying to concentrate on trying to win. But when I do, it's pretty good. The sounds for the game are also good. I'm not dissappointed with it. Plus, it has the retro tunes as well. And we "veterans" need the retros.
Replayability:
Rating: 9/10
This game is fun enough to play over again. If you can play WiFi, even better. That's probably where the fun really is in this game, so it MIGHT get boring by yourself all the time. I would still play it a few times over. It's a fun game.
WiFi Playability:
Rating: 9/10
Now, I'm still basically a newbie to the whole WiFi experience, but I have experienced it. I say that because I haven't been on a whole lot. It's fun though. You can challenge people from all over the world with different skill levels. That way, you're not always challenging the same people over and over again, and almost beating them all the time. It does get kinda boring playing the same people over and over... and over again anyways. At least it can for me. WiFi is fun, that's all there is to it. There's 4 different ways to challenge others over WiFi. You can search by using the Regional option, which searches for people in your country, Worldwide for anyone in the world, Friends for challenging anyone in your friend roster, if they also have your friend code, and Rivals, which will search for anyone that has similar skills as you.
Overall:
Rating: 55/60 (9.2 Grade)
This is a game to get if you're into racing games, or if you're just a Mario fan. Kids and adults alike love the Mario Kart series. Heck, my dad is 66yrs old, and he still plays Super Mario Kart once in a while. This is a great game for family get-togethers as well. Just grab a few family members, and play a couple of hours. It's like a movie night, just without the movie, and with more interactivity. Either way, whether you play with your family, friends, or people you don't even know of through WiFi, this game is sure to keep wheels spinning for a long time....
