Are there any musicians here? Excluding marching band and techno.
I play bass, but I still like guitar.

Ah... what pieces have you composed? Have you done any rock, blues, jazz, or anything of those sorts?
I was learning piano, but my parents were divorcing at the time, so I had to stop lessons, and I haven't done them since. I would like to relearn to play, however, I can only read tabs now, and I don't own a piano (I don't like keyboards).

I'm trading my old Rogue left-handed 4-string bass for his Squier Strat. Anyways, get some decent strings, probably $8-$15 for a cheaper, but not total crap string set. REplace all of the strings. Get a "how-to play guitar book." I do not recommend Dummies series for this one. A few easy songs to learn: "Smoke on Water" "Low Rider" "Ninja Gaiden Theme" "Sunshine of Your Love"

My sisters know guitar, keyboard, and even ocarina. My oldest sister is trying to teach herself violin, but really can't find the time to practice. As for me, I'd love to learn bass, but those suckers are quite expensive and I'm still trying to save money ofor college. What's a guy to do?

Some are yes, but you can find a good one for less than $300. Might I suggest a Peavey bass from the Milestone lineup? Inexpensive. Awesome pick-ups. Light weight. Only complaint is that the action (height) seems meh, and the turn-keys are plastic (not durable). For amps, probably a Roland Cube-30 Bass amp. It is what I have, but it is the best for the price. That right there is about $400-$500 depending where you look. Strings aren't cheap either, but they don't break often (unless you are agressive).

Yeah, but if you look at the basics, bass would normally have a simple walking bass or ground bass part, but electric guitars can have crazy passages where it just goes off and stuff. Well, anyways I will learn about them if I gcan get into uni, so afer tht I'll be fine.

But the scales and notes and whatnot are the same.
I'm trying to learn how to read music. I can only read tabs. Used to be able to read music before. ><
