So I broke down shortly before the Wii launched and bought a 360 to complement my next-gen collection. The first system I owned was a defect, so I got it repaired for $140 (was later refunded in March or April of this year). They sent me a new system instead of fixing the old one. Well, out of the box, the new system was freezing everytime I played Gears of War. Of course, Gears of War was the only reason I even wanted to play the system last fall outside of FIFA. To say the least, I was a little bit angry. I figured it was the disc, so I returned it to Target and told them my game would freeze and none of my others did. I got a new copy and still had the same problem. I was mad, but didn't make a deal of it. So now, several months into 2007, the 360 starts to freeze up in other games. Condemned, Burnout and FIFA. Call of Duty 2 I can't even boot up. And then this past week the system ate my Command & Conquer 3 disc. I'm guessing it was a laser burn, as it made a perfect circle around the inside of the disc. Bottom line, two defective Xbox 360's and two broken original Xbox's last-generation makes me a not-so-happy gamer towards Microsoft.

Why isn't this in the General Gaming board?
Anyways... You're not the only one. I have a friend that has a 360, and his also messed up. Defective harddrive, sent it in, got a new one. That one also didn't work. Sent that one.. got a new one.. same story. So now he's waiting on a new one. If that one will even work.

Oh, I suppose this should be in general gaming. Anyway, I know it's not uncommon. Practically everyone I know with a Xbox 360 has gone through more than one. I know of at least two people that had defective units that didn't work right out of the box. It's a mess.

Yeah. I wanna get a 360.. but I'll wait to see if they release a new model (like how they released fixed up PS2s and newer GCNs, and eventually the slim PS2) that has alot of these issues fixed. If they ever come out with a newer model.

I am so glad I'm waiting on the 360 until next year. Although I do want it because of some of its games... Condemned, Sonic the Hedgehog next-gen, Blue Dragon, Lost Planet, Dead Rising... Mm-mmm. Sounds good to me. Gears of War was made by the same guy who did Unreal. I didn't like Unreal... as a matter of fact I hated it... So I'm not too yippee-kye-yay over Gears.

Oh God, Sonic the Hedgehog is horrible. Just buy a Genesis and play the original on that. Much more fun.

I refuse to buy a 360 until Microsoft addresses this problem. Its a shame, there are tons of titles I'd like to check out on 360 (Too Human, Mass Effect, Gears, Blue Dragon, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Crackdown) but I will not pay upwards of 400 dollars for a system that I'm not sure will last me more than a year. Its just not gonna happen.

I've had one for a while now, mine's haven't had major issues. It'll get the red ring of death every once in a while, but the worst we've had to do is unplug it and then it works fine after we plug it back in. We've generally been okay with consoles, in fact the only console we had die on us was our first PS2, but that was after five years. :/

I haven't had many issues except for a physical on that my tray got bumped by my bro, so that i have to sometimes adjust it with my hands for it to open. Another would be that I turn off my system, but the fans keep going.
