Yea. I don't know why they even bothered with it. Wasn't it only available in Japan though?

Before I vote, I'd like to know what exactly you're talking about. Is PSX that one machine that was available in Japan only, or was it the PSone? Sometimes, people call the PSone the PSX. If that's what you're talking about, then I'll have to hurt you, because the PSone is home to some of my favorite games.

no, the psx was a hybrid tivo and ps2. it had a 30-60 gb harddrive and the standard parts in the ps2 but sooped up. the thing sold like 100 units total, and it was only sold in japan, because sony killed it before it got to the us. its not the psone.

PS1 is also called PSX, but they have another Playstation called the PSX which was Japanese only which is just a mega upgraded PS2. It is the latter.

it was when the psx's info was released, but no one thought it would cost around $600. it was annouced that it would be a ps2 with enhanced media functions.

The price was actually (currency covnersions): 250GB HDD+DVD recorder = $900 (rounded down) 160GB HDD+DVD recorder = $700 (rounded down) Sony was gutsy and failed. The PS3 will $500 & $600. This is what is stated by them at E3 and even on the news (I saw something about it on the news anyways). The price is rather high making me want a PS3 even less. Sony won't be entirely screwed over because they make their money on other things. Does Sony make money on games that were made by 3rd party developers for their systems?

actually, yes they do. They make about half or so, by advertisement value and brand name things. A good example is the Far Cry title. It was Published by Ubisoft, and Developed by Crytek. Both companies went out on a full out lawsuit on who owns the Far Cry title, and surprisingly, Ubisoft won.
And Sony never releases the actual price of any of thier hardware. they specualate on the price after e3 by surveying the listeners after they announce a fake price, just to see if anyone would actually by the product at the fake price.

But the difference is that those are only publishers and developers in that lawsuit. That has nothing to do with Sony. It is not surprising that Ubisoft won, because Ubisoft owned the copyrights. For 3rd party games, usually the developers ge tpaid royalties and the publisher gets the money from distribution.
I'm sure that marketing scheme has been used before, but I don't think that's the case. It's not fake. I don't recall it being said it was a speculation price.

they never do, that is the point. if everyone knew that it was a fake price, then i wouldnt have said anything about them using this observation stragedy. And i used Ubisoft as an example because they are both game Publishers, no difference other then the fact that Sony is much more massive then Ubisoft.
