PS3 is a more powerful system and will have stronger third party exclusives than 360 could dream of. I'd say $100 extra is worth it. BOTH the PS3 and Xbox 360 are over-priced. Thank ya Microsoft for setting a precedent with high prices. Thank you! Finally, someone who thinks straight! If you want a next gen. console with just about everything under the sun, then either get the PS3 or Xbox 360. If you want a relatively inexpencive system with a little bit more next gen in it, the get the Wii. You cant say that the PS3 is overpriced for what it has in it, but it certainly is expencive, and the Xbox 360 was out there first, so it is the gateway for the next gen machines.

And the $500 P$3 isn't that great, you have to get the $600 one.

Like I said, I'd invest in an Xbox 360, and sell it eventually in order to get a PS3 after it drops to a more sane price point... That is, unless everything on the PS3 is going to end up on the 360 anyway. Final Fantasy still looks tantalizing, along with Heavenly Sword, Devil May Cry 4, and MGSolid 4. So yeah, I'll get the PS3 only after it comes down. Which might not take too long, since the Wii will probably drive the two of its competitors into the dirt by its price tag alone! I'll get a Wii, and an X360 as a secondary system, to be sold later.

I will be getting both a 360 and a Wii as well, but I will be getting a Wii first for a couple of reasons. First of all, I want to wait for a 360 price drop of at least 50 dollars because I don't really feel the urge to go out and buy one when the only two games I would probably own are oblivion and PD0. I will pick one up eventually though, if only for Halo and the Too Human trilogy. Another reason to hold out is that even up to now 360s are having problems with the "red light of death" where the system just dies. I want to wait until they have some reliable hardware out before I spend over 300 dollars on it.
Besides that, I'm getting a Wii for many reasons. I think the controller is going to be awesome. The games look awesome, especially some of the newer IPs that Nintendo has shown (Project HAMMER and Disaster come to mind). The third party support is also looking up and the virtual console is going to keep me busy for a long while. My natural response to the "360 will have more games by the time Wii launches" arguement is that I will have a backlog of VC games to play, not to mention Twilight Princess and a couple other Nintendo IPs as launch titles. The answer is obvious to me, but a 360 is definately becoming a viable purchase for the future.

They won't do that with consoles if they want them to sell. Inflation rate is only .3% a year. ><
I remember a time when games cost even more than they do now. SNES. Games went for $60-$80. FOR REGULAR GAMES!!! Disney's Alladin cost me $70 new back in the day... well cost my mother that.
