Wow...that's all I can say. I have been playing other Wii titles so that I can review them for the site, but I am about an hour past the third dungeon in Twilight Princess and I am amazed. This game is everything I ever wanted in a Zelda game and more. Badass fights, a well-told story through great cinematic cut scenes, and an awesome new wolf mechanic that make the game a unique entry in the series. It has a couple of small shortcomings, but when I'm playing I hardly notice anymore. Get this game for Wii. If you don't have a Wii, get it for Gamecube. On either system its a beautiful game, but its beauty is nothing compared to the sheer awesomeness of the experience. It put me in awe the same way Resident Evil 4 did when I first saw El Gigante. I have been playing through Red Steel over the past couple of days, but after today's playtime with Zelda it looks like its going to have to be put on hold.

I played it on GCN, and I have to agree with you. I didn't even touch the other new games I received once I put Zelda in. I beat it in 33 hours over three days, so that should tell you something about it.

I absolutely LOVE this game. I'm about 28 hours in. Yeah, Wolf Link was an awesome idea to bring in. And lthe puzzles are more challenging and much more fun than any previous Zelda game. I just love the feeling when you work out a really big or difficult puzzle. It's like those cartoon thing when the light bulb pops up, and I try it out, and it works. Oh I LOVE IT. The Hidden Skills are also awesome ideas. When I find the howling stones I just get so excited... I've got one more Hidden Skill left, and I can't wait to find the stone/Golden Wolf and learn it!
AGH... now that I've blabbed on about it, I have to go play it now!!!

Haven't played it yet, because I don't have a Wii. Nuts. But, my sister does have it for Gamecube. Not that she'd ever break from playing it to let me have a go at it. (She's beaten it twice already and is doing all these different sidequests...)

I'm discovering and doing the sidequests as the story progresses. It's fun finding some place and keeping that place in mind so you can come back to it onde you get new items and stuff.

I've beaten it already, and although I thouroughly enjoyed the game while I played it, I now see through it and have decided that it really doesn't live up to Ocarina of Time. The only foot-hold it can rest on that OoT doesn't have is that it's a new, current-gen game with better graphics, a better engine. Some of the aspects of the story, which is what makes a Zelda game a Zelda game in my opinion, just don't really fit and leave MANY new holes in the timeline theories (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). The story just seems forced and a bit TOO imaginitive.
But other than that, it's an amazing game still, second only to Ocarina obviously. I've just found myself scrutinizing it quite a bit since it was delayed so much, I had set very high hopes for the game that it ultimately did not meet.

Whaddaya mean "The story didn't fit"? At least this time, the characters weren't just plot devices, like in Ocarina of Time. They felt more "real" this time, and added much to the story, which by the way, was the darkest story I've seen for a Zelda game--in some cases even touching a few real-life issues (For example, Zant's claim that he "looked up to the sky and found God" is eerily similar to the claim of Muhammed, the founder of Islam--and later, Islamofascism). Those elements made an already good story greater. So there. Nyeh.

Well, there I have to agree with you. The character development was very good and very creative this time around. Characters, even Link, had their own personalities in this game...but I do wish they were even more interactive and didn't say the same things over and over again. Castle Town got very boring after like the second visit since even though it had many buildings and tons of people, you could only talk to like 10 different people who would say just about the same thing the whole game, and there were about 5 buildings you could go into. But as for the story, the points you touched on were definitely good. But I think the whole Twilight thing as a whole was kind of random. We'd never even heard of the Twilight Realm, the Twili, the Light Spirits and other aspects related to these in the other Zelda games. But I dunno...I guess it's not like they can remake every other Zelda game to include the Twilight stuff so they did a pretty good job of entering this into the Zelda world.

Wait, someone said this game had good character development? Forgive me...
LOL!
Major spoilers coming up, so this is a warning to anyone who hasn't finished it.
Seriously, the characters were a joke. Zelda and Ganondorf were just tacked on and barely showed up the entire game. Zant's character was building up to be some powerful and ruminating evil villain, yet as soon as you talk to him he instantly turns into a clown. They had a lot of potential with those three characters, and they butchered it. They turned the game's main villain into a joke right at the end of the game. I can see why it fits with his limited backstory we are given, but it was such an abrupt change. Twilight Princess is like a large story with half of it cut out for some reason.
What I will say is that they did Midna justice. You could actually see her go from using Link to caring about the world of light. Ilia wasn't too bad either. Everyone else, though... yeah, no real development to speak of. Nintendo is taking the right step in Zelda storytelling, but it's still very minimal. Small snippets about the plot after a dungeon just doesn't cut it when you're trying to tell such an epic tale. They needed more cutscenes like the one after lakebed temple where Zant assaults Link and Midna. That's what builds characters up.

Woah woah woah.. so you're saying that the Zelda franchise shouldn't bring in new worlds/elements to upcoming games?? you make it sound like that. I thought the Twilight Realm idea was the core of creativity being shown off in this game.

What I said is that Nintendo did a pretty good job of introducing something new for this game, even if I myself don't particularly like what they introduced.

By the sounds of it, don't expect a cooked story or built characters. Gameplay would be fun, but not much different from previous Zelda games. Suddenly, I don't feel like getting this game. I hate halfbaked stories. No story is better than crappy or half-baked stories.
