I don't think that ranked battles are out of the question. I think its possible and am personally hoping that there is another mode yet to be revealed (he does say there are other wifi modes) that is basically like a mode for ladder matches.

To NormalGamer:
True. Again, to me, the matches with friends will probably be what I use the most. I'm just not seeing the point of the random matches. I get the fun factor aspect, but to the player, is it really much different than just playing the CPU?
As for the additional Wi-Fi modes, I hope that there are tournament bracket features. That'd be great. However, when I first read that, my first hunch was that these would be different types of Wi-Fi features, unrelated to actual brawling. I figured yesterday would be the blowout for the online brawling, with different features to come. Maybe more along the lines of Metroid's friend voucher system, something utilizing trophies or stickers. We'll see. Should be cool, regardless.

They said they want to get rid of many "clone" characters, but hopefully they will just give Luigi his own moveset.

Yeah, I would love to see Luigi at least get his own moveset for him to stand out more if he does return in later updates on the DOJO. Right now i'm just paitent and keeping my expectations low, as always.

They said they want to get rid of many "clone" characters, but hopefully they will just give Luigi his own moveset. Well, Luigi and Mario are related by blood, so it's not surprising if the two of them have similar movesets. After all, they DID change out a few of Mario's moves.

Well, even though Luigi's moves were similar to Mario's, they in fact were completely different, and I should know since i was an Luigi expert in SSBM. Fior me Luigi pwns 100 times more than mario. His style was completely different. Mario was an all-rounder, whereas Luigi was more aggressive type, with a few risks. To put it simply, Mario is a risk-free character, and Luigi is the more "ambitious" type. I'll be really upset if Luigi doesnt come back.

Just have paitence, KoE. That's all i'm going to say. For your sake, Luigi will be there, unless future updates 'confirm' the truth about Luigi being in SSBB, despite my claims.
*update* October 4, 2007
Another double update:
Shielding and Dodging: another 'how to play' update. Of course we SSB veterans already know how to do this in SSBM, but it's something for newbies to know who are new to SSB. www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto/basic/basic06.html
Also, the introduction of Fox's Final Smash: www.smashbros.com/en_us/characters/fox.html
