Not me. The fact that it doesn't have a DVD player is actually a plus. Why? Because game machines are supposed to play games, not DVDs. Why should that cool game you rented gather dust while someone watches a Pauly Shore movie using your game system? If you want to watch a DVD, get a DVD player, not a game machine. The whole "It's for kids" crap has got to stop. Gamecube was the first one to get Resident Evil 4. And I'm pretty sure super-difficult games like F-Zero GX and gory games like the Nintendo-published Eternal Darkness are way out of some 6-year-old's league. On top of all that, most young children these days own PS2s. What does that say about Sony's system?

I agree with Pilgrim in his thoughts, but I do think that if the Cube would have had DVD player and a more masculine look to it, it would've sold better and not been targetted by many people as a kids system. It's lame of people to make such stupid accusations, but they do it anyway.
That's where I think Revolution will have a huge advantage over the Cube. It just looks cooler. Way cooler, actually. It's sleek and tech looking, and it looks like something most people wouldn't have a problem putting up in their setup.

People mistake it's being accessible to everyone as kiddy. When I bought Mario Sunshine, I was forced to get it at Wal-mart (picked it up after work, which was 2 am) and the ass-hat who fetched it from the case for me asked me if I was buying it for myself. I told him yes and asked him why and he explained that it was a game he would have gotten for his five year old brother. I just looked at him pitiably and told him I'd pick the game up at the register. That's just it, if a game doesn't feature, violence, gore, or sex or drug references, it's immediately labeled as kiddy.

Calling GC "kiddy" is something that ps2/xbox fanboys do when they are jealous of a high quality title being released that does not contain obscene amounts of blood or gore. Great examples are Paper Mario:TTYD and LoZ: Wind Waker. Both were great games despite their cartoonish style. As far as the DVD player aspect, I do think it has had some effect unfortunately. As Pilgrim pointed out, why people don't just get a better DVD player for the price difference is beyond me. As far as the launch colors go, it was pretty stupid of Nintendo to make purple the primary color. I got my jet black one, but I know many who were stuck with the purple. Oh, and BTW...the handle rocks.

What's wrong with purple? The Super Nintendo had purple power switches and purple buttons. People don't seem to complain about that. *NOTE: Owns Platinum*

People don't seem to complain about that. *NOTE: Owns Platinum* There's nothing wrong with it necessarily, I'm sure plenty of people really like the color and shape of the Cube. Honestly though, I don't even like the purple color, and not because I think kiddy(like many Nintendo hater thinks), but because I like sleek devices in a black or white color, which is why I think the Revolution is perfectly designed. That, and the system was just too boxy. It isn't a horrible design, in fact I like it better than the Xbox and the PS2 design, but that isn't saying much. I don't think the current gen did a great job in console design, luckily next gen consoles apparently took that into consideration(other than the PS3 which is ugly). The Xbox 360 is definitely nice to look it, even if it is larger than I would like, and as I said, the Revolution looks perfect.

I disagree on both accounts. Minimal third party support is the killer.

The problem with purple is that a lot of people nowadays want systems that can fit in with their sleek dvd players and Tivos. Purple stands out like a sore thumb in most entertainment centers. PS2's sleeker black look went well with them. The Xbox had cool colors, but the console design was terrible IMO.

I'll say it again: back with Super Nintendo, which also stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to VCRs and DVDs and whatever, people didn't complain about the look. Genesis was black, it was sleek, it looked excellent next to any other piece of hardware, and people still liked the Super Nintendo more. Why? That doesn't make sense to me.

Well...for one...DVDs didnt exist when the SNES was out (at least to the mass market). Also, VCRs were generally bulky and ugly anyway. I do think that in recent generations the gaming populous has become more image concious. Thus purple = bad. Black = good. I think in the SNES era gamers were more of a niche community who cared more about the games than the look. Nowadays, i cant say for sure (which i s a sad thing)

At least we have the Revolution with a fantastic design.
